Penalized For Small Headcount

Original post by eden

Does anyone know of a reception hall that won't penalized for a small headcount? I can only guarantee 100 guests. Don't want to invite all my cousins that I haven't seen for years. :(

I'm looking for a reception location that has an outdoor garden or waterfront view in Nassau County that won't cost more than $120 per head (tips & taxes included).

I'll be visiting the Crescent Beach Club this coming Saturday so am wondering if there's anything similar nearby to also check out.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

The George Washington Manor has a 95 person guarantee and the prices are very reasonable. They are owned by the same family as the Milleridge. You should check them out.

Thanks for everyone's responses! I wonder if it's better to just find a restaurant with a waterfront view that would do our wedding?
That way we won't have to worry about minimum headcount or paying full price for kids who don't eat. :(

Be careful, some restaurants will require a minimum as well (although probably less than 100). I had my reception at a restaurant and had to guarantee 75 people in order to get the room I wanted.

Well, it's not in Nassau County, but West Sayville Country Club cost me $115 pp including everything and it's on the water. They're cool with 100 poeple too. Look at my review, there are pictures there.

I am getting married at the Old Field Club in Setauket, Suffolk County on a Sunday afternoon guaranteed 80 @ 115 a head. It is on the water, you are the ONLY event there, you have the ENTIRE place to yourself and it flows from inside to the outside deck. A hop, skip, and jump from West Meadow Beach too. It is beautiful, but not banquety, fancy, or ritzy at all so it really depends what your looking for.
Cresent was beautiful but told me 125 min @ 160....
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Waterfront view in Nassau County with low headcount:

Riviera in Massapequa
Carltun on the Sound
Sans Souci

Outdoor Gardens in Nassau County with low headcount:

Stewart Manor CC
Swan Club
George Washington Manor

With the exception of the Swan Club, they all do one wedding at a time. All agreed to give me 100 minimum guarantee head count, and I think they are all in your price range.

HTH!!! Good luck!

look at Fox Hollow -- tell them you want the Wintergarden Pavillion for your reception room (sigh! I was supposed to have that room but my list is too big.)

It's got an outdoorsy feel to it. Waterfalls, glass ceilings, you'll love it! I imagine you should be fine with 100 people in that room without being penalized.

Thanks for all the responses ladies!

You guys are amazing, as usual.

The Winter Garden Pavilion looks amazing! There are 3 rooms though. Does this mean there will likely be 3 weddings at a time at Fox Hollow? I love the location and the ambiance of the place, though I'm afraid about the multiple weddings. :(

Riviera defintiely sounds your style. It's waterfornt and has a low minimum and is well under $120! Good Luck!

Massapequa Riveria, Thacheted Cottage (Northport/Huntington), Bridgewater CC (island Park) are all on waterfront and can accommodate your party

2 out of 3 in Nassau

Some of the larger venues are willing to accommodate a smaller wedding if it's a day wedding, especially a Sunday day. Giorgio's gave me 100 min for Sun. day, and I think the Vinyard Caterers told me they'd work with 75 for a Sunday afternoon.

I also had a minimum of 100 at the Swan Club. They had 3 weddings the night we were there, but I honestly didn't really notice the other weddings once we were in our room.

Sans Souci has a beautiful waterfront view and the food is outstanding. I leaned heavily towards booking them.

The other places we looked at that had 100 minimum were mentioned: Stewart Manor CC, Milleridge carriage house. I think Caffe on the Green in Bayside might have let us have a minimum of 100 as well.
