Peonies

I love the look of Peonies in bouquets...please post pics if you have them.
Also, are they expensive?

Re: Peonies

I plan on using Peonies in my bouquets too. I don't have any pictures but I have seen a few posted on here. They are pretty expensive though. My stepdad works in the flower business and they are about 2.50 per flower. I am not sure how much in a bouquet though.

I wanted to use peonies, but they were out of season. They are expensive and they are delicate!

Re: Peonies

This may sound crazy, but if you tie or bunch a volume of single-color carnations together, they look very much like peonies. Someone posted such an arrangement on the knot and people could not believe they were carnations. It almost lead to a fight!

Peonies have a very short season and cost a ton. Carnations are available all the time and are less than a dollar a stem.

Re: Peonies

peonies are readily available from around jan/feb-may. you can still get them into june but their not quite as plentiful and may cost more. september brides like me dont get your hopes up- even if your florist can get them they wont be as abundant as in season ones and they will definitely cost you!
if you love the look - carnations is one idea. or ranunculus. they are like mini peonies although stems are more delicate. heres a few comparison pics:

the big pink flowers in this bouquet are peonies - the smaller round ones with the greenish tint at ranunculus

these are partially blown peonies

these are full blown ranunculus

I had peonies mixed with hydrangea, spray roses, and stephanotis.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies! i'm a September bride so I guess I'm out of luck! I'll have to ask the florist about Ranunculous, I'm sure I spelled that wrong!

if you have your heart set on it you can probably find a florist that CAN get them - just be ready to spend more. sorry that pic was so large i dont know how to make it smaller!

I think they can be really pricey if you use them out of season. I think they are at their peak in May, I could be wrong though. They are so gorgeous!
