Can I ask approximately how much is your LIPA bill per month? Ours on average is about $45 or so. Last month it was in the $60s and this month it was $124
I know we've been using the AC but we don't leave it running all day when we aren't there. We have one big one in the LR we use when we are in there (at night), the BR one we run when we are sleeping and there is one in the second BR (computer room) I use in the am to get ready and DH uses at night when he plays his games.
It just seems high so I want to compare

Re: People in Apartments....LIPA bill question
last month for us it was billed on 31 days and was 72.00. This month, it was billed on 27 days and was 66.00. I can't believe yours would change that much in one month. I would call them on it.

Re: People in Apartments....LIPA bill question
I have the same issue! We get billed every two months. In June it was $74 and then in August it was $179!!!!!! I could not believe the jump in price! We called and they said it was b/c of the air conditiner. We have the same situation as you....LR that we only run at night when we get home from work and BR when we are sleeping. YIKES!!!! i think we need to invest in a fan!

Re: People in Apartments....LIPA bill question
i was gonna say the same thing as jenny, sometimes when you see a big jump it's b/c they estimated the month before. then when they actual came and read the meter they realized you got undercharged the month before. i would call them anyway, just to be sure.

Re: People in Apartments....LIPA bill question
if you live in an apartment that is in someone elses house just make sure they are not hooked up to your meter and stealing from you. its happened to me before. just a heads up and i hope that is not the case

Re: People in Apartments....LIPA bill question
I don't have it with me but I'm pretty sure it said they took an actual reading in July
They definately aren't hooked up to my meter. My dad owns the house (and the people downstairs rent)
I just wanted to see if ours was way high compared to everyone else and it seems like it is........I guess I have to break down and call...I know they are just going to confuse me and I'll pay it
