People requesting THEIR wedding song to be played at YOUR wedding??

Ive had a few people tell me that they were going to request their wedding song to be played at my wedding, or asked me to request that it be played.
Honestly with the amount of people who told me this, my whole reception would be just slow songs!
Anyone else having this problem or think its odd? I dont mind a few, but im talking like 6-7 people who have said this! I think thats a bit much for slow songs.

I think it would be cute to play maybe a friends wedding song for them or a parents or family member. but not for like every other person... then its just overboard. haha.

i have never heard of that..and to be honest its a little strange to me...they way i look at it is..that song was my song at my wedding not someone elses..but thats just me
and also if i really wanted to hear it..i would def not tell the bride i would just go ask the dj myself

Not even my parents if they had a wedding song!
It YOUR DAY! They had a day already, no need, time suck and weird/spot light hogging.
My parents went to a wedding where the parents danced by themselves to their song at their daughters wedding. My mom said it made her uncomfortable.
Its just plain weird...
If its your birthday, sure lets sing and have a cake but not a wedding song.

thats so weird that people would try and request their songs at your wedding. i would tell the dj not to allow slow song requests unless they came directly from the parents of the bride and groom. those would be the only wedding songs i would be ok with played at my wedding

In my opinion I think that it is rude to go up to a bride and ask if your song can be played at her wedding. I would NEVER do that. Your wedding song is your wedding song and you can play it whenever you want to in your car, in your home....wherever.....but to ask for it at someone's wedding to me is in poor taste. I've told my DJ no announcements, shout outs, requests, speeches, etc.

that's just strange!!! I would def. limit it, and you're certainly not being fussy for doing that- it's your day, and your guests should respect that!!
