People who made their own unity/memory candle...

How exactly did you do it?

I actually made a monogram that was on vellum on top of our invitations. I just took one of those, cut it down, and pinned it on the candle. Very easy and cheap! I bought the candle at JoAnns.

I printed the wording onto vellum. Then I cut the vellum so it didnt have much excess from top to bottom, then I put it around the candle with hot glue.

After I put ribbon on the top and the bottom so that you cant see where the paper ends. I also put a little rose on the ribbon. I really love how it came out. Good luck!!!!

Anyone have pix? What if the candle burns down too low, wouldn't it melt the vellum? That's what I'm worried about!

I printed my poem onto card stock because the vellum came out all smudgy. Then I hot glued it to the candle and decorated with pearls and mini stephanotis. Here is a pic. It looks purple but it is not.

All I did was copy our invitation and place on with pretty pins, then added silver ribbon and pink ribbon flowers. I was pleased.
My pics aren't posting but I have pictures in a community album.

I bought pearl beads at Michaels and stuck them into the candles with pins. I did both the pillar and the tapers this way. They're pretty.

I wrapped ribbon around it used pearl headed pins to decoratively hold it (I cut the pin length in half and half the pin pushed easily into the wax). Then I glue gunned snowflakes on the ribbon.

That was hard! I remember it taking me forever to find them (I think near sewing type stuff but I am not sure).

I used vellum and a plain white pillar candle. I wanted to try and keep the color scheme of the dresses so I found the cinnamon colored 'silk' ribbon at Michaels. To keep the vellum edge hidden along the top you need ribbon there too. The 'jewel' at the top I found also at Michaels. I just glued it on. Just use double sided tape to hold the vellum to the candle and the ribbon to the vellum.

I used them (about 5 of them) on a table in the reception hall with anitique frames with my grandparents wedding photos, rose petals and a vase with 6 red roses. It gave off such a soft glow, beautiful and so meaningful for me and my parents.
