Has anyone booked a percussionist for their CH/reception? What's a reasonable price? Have you ever been to a wedding w/ a precussionist and did it really add a lot to the music?

It certainly adds a live feel which is really cool...almost makes you think you're hearing a band for a second!!
Some percussionists are more flashy than others...there are the ones that get the Bride & Groom playing along with them...so cool! Especially when they have a huge kit of all these different percussion instruments, like Howie Bongo. I wanted him but he was booked. I believe he went for around $600, but I'm sure you can get cheaper guys for $300.
It hurts me but for budgetary reasons, I might not go with a percussionist.

I've seen them listed with other DJs for about $400 but I think I'm going to book Get in Tune and their percussionist sounded like she had an elaborate set-up and was almost $700! Can you book percussionists without going through your DJ?

i think it definitely adds - ive been to 2 weddings with them and i think its a nice touch. i think mine was $400

Yes and YES!!! I cannot have my wedding without one! I am soooooooooooo into music...if you want a great price..go to FM Entertainment! They have a GREAT GUY!

We did and I am sooo glad, he was awesome. I think the add'l charge was $300. so worth it!!

I second Howie Bongo......amazing.... he free lances with different D.J companies I know high voltage uses him and he charges $600 for the evening.....sadly he was booked for my date

We are using one as well. We were at a wedding where they had that and a sax player and it was so nice. I wanted a band, my FH wanted a DJ so this was our compromise.
I think the charge is about $375 per additional live element. We are using Boppa (I think that's it) and he also free lances with other DJ companies. We booked him through our DJ company...VJ Entertainment.
