i personally dont think it is. i am using a TON of candles to get the soft lighting effect

I've been kicking this around as well. I think it depends on your room and whether you want to room to subtly change colors.
I've gotten quotes for just under 1000...have you shopped around yet?

I am doing it. I think it is something that people will remeber about your wedding. We are also having snowflake gobos around the room to make it feel like winter wonderland and having snowflakes hang from the ceiling.

we are doing it - we are getting it from our DJ, i love the way it looks, it can really change a room but if we weren't getting it for free i don't think i'd want to pay 1K for it.....

BTW, I think its also called uplighting.
It depends on the room, what look you're going for, and whether it fits in your budget.

We wanted to do it but the room that we are in has a lot of mirrors and the light wouldn't show so all of the djs we saw said it wasn't worth it for us and we wouldn't get the look we were going for. I think if you have a room that it will work on it looks amazing and you should go for it. It can be really pricey so check around with a lot of places for different prices.

I haven't really shopped around but I know FM offers it but it is close to $1000. Don't know if it's worth it yet.

We are def doing uplighting+pin spots+monogram on the dancefloor. Think we are going with a vendor on here.
It looks fab and transforms the room!

we are using the company that my FH works for - so that is why we aren't paying for anything - its Dash of Class but they don't really do LI weddings - mostly New Jersey/Staten Island...they have a website and they probably charge about the same as all the other companies

$1000? I got quoted $45 each light from 2 DJ companies and they both told me that you wouldn't really need more than 12.

We are doing uplighting. Our RH ballroom has a lot of white, and is a very basic background. The uplighting changes the whole room! We're paying $60/light for the color changing LEDs and are using 12 lights. We're getting it through our DJ.

I love how it can transform a room....and I think it looks beautiful but we needed to cut corners where we could and that was one of the options I had to let go of....
I wish it was more affordable.

I think we are doin it as well! I love how it looks- it really gives the room and entirely different feeling. We have not booked our florist yet but tthe ones we have looked at all do the uplighting.

We did and our guests LOVED It!! We used Apple Entertainment (TJ) - we had pinspot lighting for our centerpieces and red uplighting throughout our walls and ceiling, plus the GOBO. It made the pictures look awesome!
TJ was also so sweet, he sent us our GOBO after the wedding as a keepsake.

We are doing it b/c we are getting a good deal from our DJ. Personally I think it adds another dimension to the room.
