Personal question about AF after baby (might be TMI)...

When you're breastfeeding, when does AF normally return? I thought it was a couple of months after delivery but the other day I believe she showed up. I didn't stop bleeding from labor until last week and then on Monday night I got some light cramps. On tuesday she was here. I say I think it's AF because it is VERY light. Could it still be bleeding from labor? Or is it possible that my cycle is back? I just always thought that with breastfeeding it takes a while.

I was one of the lucky bf moms...I didn't get my AF until Molly was 10 months old..but LOTS of bf moms do get their AF back rather quickly...which shows why breastfeeding is NOT good birth control.

Birth control? We just got the ok last Thursday to resume all 'normal' activites. I didn't even have time to resume before AF showed up.

I got my AF right away too! I had the bleeding from the birth for the whole 6 weeks. I didn't even get a full week of not bleeding and then AF showed up. I thought I was over doing it and just started bleeding again, but no, the doctor said it's probably AF. Of course I was upset because I was BF'ing and I only thought that you didn't get it when you breastfed. So, I'm one of the unlucky one's I guess!

By chance, are you taking the mini-pill? If so, it's possible you are having breakthrough bleeding. I had that problem and ended up not taking it. After that, it was a while before I got my true AF. I would wait and see what happens, but never trust BF as a BC.

I got my AF back 7 weeks after giving birth. I have been 100% breastfeeding since he was born. I was not a lucky one

I am not taking any pill. I was going to start right after I finish my antibiotics this week.
