Personal question RE: Finances POLL responses ONLY!!!

Original post by BriBri529

I know this is personal, but I have been having this discussion with my mother and am just curious as to what everyone else's thoughts/situations are. What do you anticipate having left in the bank after the wedding and honeymoon? (BEFORE putting money down on a house or anything like that.) Please don't respond if you feel uncomfortable - and just reply by poll, since I know this is a personal question . . . Thanks!!!!

PLEASE BUMP TO THE TOP ONCE IT IS AT THE BOTTOM!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

In savings we have about 10K left.
In his CDS we have like 13K so call it 23K.
Which I dont think is alot since we have a daughter

BUT the future looks bright considering I am going to grad school so I hope it pays off in the end.

I think thats a lot...

I know my BM's all have kids, my MOH has 3 kids, just bought a house and they have saved about the same, and they havent struggled at all ...I know others with kids that live a little more then pay check to paycheck with some money put aside for emergencies...you make do with what you have, and once you have kids...things like $100 shoes arent important, that is clothing, so it all works out.....
I say this because I see so many of you with a LOT more in savings then I have say it's not much...I live paycheck to paycheck basically and we have enough ( I hope) for our wedding, we never want for much of anything, I have a nice car, go to the gym, nice clothes and can afford to have kids....so I guess I dont understand when some people have so much saved say its not a lot, unless they live way above their means...sorry to go on like this. ...JMO....to me if I had a house and still had 25K saved, I'd think I was rich...LOL

We dont have any savings....we live paycheck to paycheck. So the answer is $0.

Same here!

For any of you girls that posted 50K + 'You go Girls' I only wish... truely we don't see ourselves having much left in the bank after the wedding. The only good thing is, that we already got the house!

We wont have much left but to be honest we are closing on a house next month and paying for the wedding, so we can start saving again from there.

to tell you the truth i would rather be in your situation... it is almost impossible to buy ahouse these days for younger people just starting out

$50K is not enough for a down payment today
