personalized aisle runner

so i want to make my own personalized aisle runner but im not a huge fan of the ones at ac moore bc they are so see through...i like the ones that arent so see through...what should i do just buy regular fabric?? anyone make there own, but not use the aisle runners from ac moore?

i want to attempt one like this one:

now anyone know how i can attach ribbon on the sides of it like the pic above? lol

First you would have to know the total length of your runner. For example if you did a 30 foot runner you would need (2) ten+ yard pieces of ribbon (one for each side). If you purchase it cut to fit your runner you will not have seams. Any fabric store will have ribbon to buy by the yard or you can try ebay. It would be easiest to use 3 inch wide ribbon folded in half. The ribbon would need to be pressed so the edge is crisp. You could glue it to each edge or sew it with a machine.
