Pet insurance?

Pet insurance?

Has anyone ever heard or has pet insurance for their pet? We have one cat and may be getting a second and I know vet bills can be costly. One cat is 14 with a kidney and thyroid condition and the other cat is 3 and is relatively healthy. Thanks for any info!

Re: Pet insurance?

I cried when I saw an ad for pet insurance and it had a Golden Retriever puppy with sad eyes. When FH and I have our own pets, I will get insurance for them. Right now, mom and dad don't have it for our cats (we should though, we too have a cat with a thyroid condition)

THe thing that's good about it is unexpected surgeries...they can cost up to $5,000! I've never heard anyone of FI's patients (well, clients, I guess the patients are the animals ), say they wished they didn't get the insurance.

If anything, they always say who happy they are that they got it, and how much money it saved them. It's totally not expensive.

I'll find out the details when FI gets home.

I think I would definitely get it if I had a horse (my dream)

Oh one more thing, I don't think the insurance will cover a 14 year old cat, you need to buy the insurance before they get any problems...it's just like people insurance, rates go up with age, etc...I think.

Let me double check with FI.
