Petal Toss
I want to toss petals instead of rice, bird seed or blowing bubbles outside of the church. Is it better to use real rose petals, silk petals or dried petals? I`ve heard that colored petals could stain your dress!! Thanks for your help... Good Luck to all!

I heard freeze-dried petals will not stain your dress. These are few websites that carry them.. http://www.flyboynaturals.com/ http://www.weddingpetals.com/aboutrosepetals.htm

I had real petals and received no stains. I think the problem is if the petals are colored rather than naturally a color.

Petal Toss We used real petals in a variety of colors
We had no problems and they look great in the photos.

Petal Toss
Here's an idea for brides that have a while until they get married. Since my FH and I have been dating, I have been drying all the petals from all the roses he has given me, and I am going to use them to toss. The colors get darker as they dry, but it is the sentimental reason that I like.

I had them (the florist gave them to me and I didn't even know about it until I saw the pictures) and they didn't stain anything and looked good in the pics!

July3Bride - I almost did the same thing, but here's why NOT
I almost did the same thing that you are trying to do - using the petals from every rose my husband ever gave me. But, I decided against it for two reasons - dried petals will crumble when your guests have them in their hands; and I wanted a the petals to be in a color that matched my bridesmaids' bouquets. So, we used the fresh petals and it was great! No stains, but many amazing pictures (both from the photographer and some friends and relatives!!) I think you only have to be concerned about stains when the petals are dyed. Natural colors don't run. Just something to keep in mind! Good luck!

natural colors DO run
at my friends wedding, she had red roses. One of the BM boquets hit her dress and left streaks. We can't have rose petals (church won't allow them), so we're doing bubbles. I was disappointed but I like that people won't be throwing things at me. I've been to wedding where the bride & groom get whacked in the face (with rice, birdseed, petals, whatever) and it winds up in your hair, down your dress etc. That said - it looks beautiful, especially in the pictures.

Do the ceremony sites charge a clean-up fee for the petals? Or anything else for that matter? My parish back home used to charge a clean-up fee for confetti. Also, how many petals per person did you use, and how did yu package them? Thanks in advance for any answers, Diana
