My florist is charging me $100 for rose petals for the petal toss. I think that is insane and am now trying to think of alternatives.
Has anyone used fake rose petals?

Re: petal toss
I was going to try to do a petal toss but then I thought bubbles might photograph better. Why not try bubbles?
ACMoore has a nice selection of fake petals that look very nice IMO.

Re: petal toss
What about going to the supermarket that has a florist & asking them for the petals or what they would charge for the roses and make the petals yourself the night and keep them in the frige so they stay fresh????

Re: petal toss
Normal florist (aka not wedding florists) also can provide rose petals. Maybe you can go to a local florist and ask them how much they will charge for a bag of rose petals....and then have your bridal party fill the petal cones on the day of.
My florist provided the rose petals, but my girls were going to fill the cones for me. (Fox Hollow people ended filling the cones for us! They are so awesome)

Re: petal toss
Ummm that's insane my florist was throwing in petals left and right! Also I ordered those freeze dried rose petals for my petal cones and that was more affordable, I liked the choice of colors I had better.

Re: petal toss
WOW I didnt know they would be soo expensive, you know what, I was at a wedding and they used real petals and they turned brown, I was like YUCK, I think its better off using fake petals, they would look better in pics and not weak and brown like the real ones

Re: petal toss
Do bubbles. It looks so nice and a lot of churches do not allow petals. Make sure you check first.
Here are some non-pro pics. I think they look pretty good.

Re: petal toss
my florist gave me the petals for free but charged me like 50 cents per organza bag that i supplied him with to stuff them the day beofre so i wouldnt have to worry about going to get them from him and stuffing them the night before when i was stressing like crazy! haha.

Re: petal toss
50flowers.com sells 12,000 petals for $200 including shipping. You can get 6,000 petals for $139 I think. 6,000 petals should cover alot more than the petal toss so $100 for the petal toss alone seems like a bit much.

Re: petal toss
If you do petals, make sure they are thrown at you from behind, so you and DH don't scrunch up your faces... it ruins the shot! Our photog should have known this, but...

Re: petal toss
You can get silks for tossing, its much cheaper and will still give the same effect in the photos.

Re: petal toss
That is ridiculous! You should just go buy silk petals... I was going to do a petal toss, but my church doesn't allow it.

Re: petal toss
Most florists throw them in for free I thought? otherwise, go with fake ones, unless it is really important to you.
