Petite brides who haven't bought their dress yet...
Do you worry that big poofy dresses will overwhelm you? I tried on a bunch of Maggies yesterday and I loved the Amara Royale, which is a mermaid, and my mom loved Dallas and Joelie, which were sooo big and I felt so lost underneath the material.

I am petite also and initially wanted a poofy dress with pick ups. Well, it didn't exactly work out and went with a fitted slight A-Line, Mermaid style. My Mom didn't want a fitted dress and rather have seen me in a poofy one but when she came with me to try on these dresses, she knew I couldn't wear a poofy dress.

I feel like I might disappear in a poofy dress, I'm going for an A-line.

I totally understand your worry...i went with a satin A line dress and I am not going to put too much crinoline underneath...mermaid dresses made me nervous since i wanted to feel comfy and not self conscious all day long but I thnk they are beautiful and perfect for petite brides! post pics!!!

I bought my dress but my mom liked a poofy oleg cassini dress from DB and I felt lost AND it was heavier than any other dress I tried on! So I went with A-line.

I don't have pics of me in it since my camera broke, but this is dress...In Ivory, not red! But the red is stunning! I am not too crazy about A-line dresses, but maybe I need to branch out..

My cousin is very petite and decided on a big poofy dress. Personally, I don't like the dress itself. But it doesn't look that bad on her. The top is very fitted and the skirt starts low enough that it doesn't drown her. If you want a poofy shirt you just have to keep looking until you find one that's right for your body.

I guess it depends on the dress... I'm nervous about this as well.
But a family friend who is probably 90 lbs soaking wet and a size 00 (She ordered a size 0 from David's and STILL had to have it taken in) and she got a big poofy skirt with pickups.. and it looked quite nice.

I am petite and knew I didn't want a poofy dress cuz I didn't want to get lost inside. I am looking for an A-line type of dress. So when I tried on poofier dresses, my first question out of the dressing room would be... ' Does the dress look like it's eating me?' It just looked like a poof of white everywhere.

I'm 5'2' and I always want the big dress and then I tried it on and eeek!!!! You have to be 6' tall and 100 lbs to pull it off IMO!! So A-line it was for me!

Re: Petite brides who haven't bought their dress yet...
i tried on lots of trumpet/mermaid style gowns - i am 5 feet tall and like 90 lbs so im pretty tiny i LOVED the way that those dressed looked on me but i just didnt feel like a 'bride' in any of them.....i ended up getting an a-line dress with a gathered skirt - its not really pick ups more gathered and bunchy - there are pics in my album - its hard to tell because the dress, even though its my dress and not the sample is still really big on me - but i dont think i look to lost in it - i did like similair styled EOM dresses but i think those would have been too much for me since they are more along the lines of a ballgown

First off, your dress is stunnnnnnnnnnnnning!!
Second, I totally understand the 'not bride' feeling...I am worried about that too!!!! Like, a poofy dress screams bride, but a trumpet or mermaid only whispers it
