1-do you still have a landline phone? 2-who is your carrier and what do you pay? 3-do you have your cell phone as your only phone?
i am asking b/c we have the family plan with fh's family, but minutes are limited yet we need a cell phone. i'm confused as to what to do. i feel like we need a landline phone, but that with a new cell plan is way too expensive.

Do you remember the blackout??? Cellphones were not working. I did not have a landline for 2 years and now that I do have one I love it!! Our phone, tv and cable modem are all together so I have no idea what the individual cost would be.

Re: Phone services
that is my thing about the cell phones. during the blackout, talking on the phone was the only thing to do, i was soooo bored. granted, i had to trek into the basement and search for an old rotary phone b/c the cordless didn't work, but still, it was dependable. i'm hoping that fil's keep us on their family plan so we can not worry about that and just go ahead with the optonline trio.

Re: Phone services
I can't imagine not having a regular phone line (maybe I'm just OLD).
I never use my cellphone for regular conversations and really only have it for if I ever broke down or 'Hey, honey, want me to pick up dinner on my way home'.
I work for MCI, so that's who I have (get $25 employee credit). We have Neighborhood (unlimited calls - local/toll/LD) and two lines. The bill is about $75.

Re: Phone services
We have a landline as well. We use AT&T for just basic service and that is abour $42/month.
We both have cell phones - my DH has a plan through AT&T and pays about $40/month. I'm on a pay as you go plan where $25 gets you something like 90 minutes. I haven't bought more minutes since May, so this plan works out well for me.
ETA: We use calling cards for LD calls. It doesn't pay for us to have a LD plan since we ahrdly ever make LD calls.

We still have a landline... verizon, some unlimited package that's about 80 bucks a month.
Honestly, I don't have enough faith in cell phone carriers to rely solely on them.
