Photo - a little worried....

So I just met with a photographer who is big on the East End and does lots of celebrities/high profile weddings. Needless to say he is WAY out of our budget. When speaking to him, I mentioned a couple of photographer and videographers that were able to offer my package in my price range and he was very quick to say be careful, that I should make sure I actually GET my proofs, and that the pictures may not be able to be blown up, etc.

It wasn't something I really thought about, I assumed that if I was getting a proof package with rights to my pictures and all high res, this wasn't an issue bit now I'm wondering if I am being naïve? Has anyone had an issue with getting their pictures? Or being able to make albums, blow up, order prints, etc?
I am looking to book with ADA, I did not even THINK I would have an issue, as they have been around forever.

I don't know if he was just saying this to scare me, or if this actually is a reality. Should I make sure that it says somewhere in our contract 'high resolution edited proofs'?

personally, I think he was trying to scare you into paying for his services. if ADA never gave proofs out to their customers, they wouldn't still be a successful company.

I'm booked with ADA and I know tons of people who have used them before without an issue. There are some companies who aren't as big and reputable who I would be concerned about, but I don't think ADA is one of them.

Its up to you if you want the actual proofs. If you have the rights and a CD with all the pictures you may not necessarily want all those proofs printed out if you aren't going to use them. We aren't doing proofs because in our opinion they will end up collecting dust. For us it is more important to have the rights to the photos then we always have all the photos anyway.

I don't want the actual proofs - I should have said just the CD with rights... Many of the photographers refer to it as a 'proof only' package, but same with me, the pictures would end up collecting dust LOL. All I want is a CD with all edited pictures, high res of course and all rights (which IMO should be given to you anyway, they are YOUR pics!)

My coworker used ADA and her pictures that I saw were beautiful. She didn't have any problems!

I would say regardless of what company you book with make sure it says what you want on your contract. Any company should have no problem putting that in writing and if they do then there is a problem.

I think a lot of photographers are giving out CDs so you can print as many pictures as you want. I'm using White Pear and I got a CD with my eng. photos. I uploaded to Snapfish and have printed 8X10 pictures of the ones I like. I'll be getting the same for our wedding pictures. I don't think you should have a problem.

My photographer actually makes a proof book and gives it to you included with the package. I think he was trying to scare you into buying his services.
