Photo editing programs

Can any one recommend a reasonably priced, decent photo editing program.
I want to be able to take pictures and enlarge them and crop them.

Photoshop although I don't know the price cause I got mine from a friend.

Photoshop is rather complicated for someone just starting out and its really expensive. Its one of the 'best' for graphic designers but unless you plan on doing a lot of advanced work on the photos, its not necessary.

I have LOTS of photo editing programs but the easiest one that has the best functionality for doing lots of stuff is Photoshop Elements.

However, if you just plan on cropping photos - you dont really need a photo program at all. You could even do that in MS Word!

PS: You cant 'enlarge' a photo without degrading its quality.
