Photo location drama

Photo location drama

So, our wonderful NY State has raised the photography permit from $50 last year to $100 this year....and that is for EVERY park!! So we wanted pics at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum and Robert Moses State park. I think it's worth it but still, a 100% increase in a year? Shocking. So now I'm trying to think of other places. My photog mentioned Islip Grange in Sayville.....it's a cluster of buildings like old barns, a chapel and a windmill......we stopped by last week and LOVED it. Best part, it's free!!!! Just have to write the parks department for the permit. Can't beat that!

So now I'm thinking of interior locations. Growing up we always visited my uncle's church in Patchogue. It's now a landmark and has the massive Tiffany windows and huge organ....it's really pretty inside. Would it be odd to have pictures taken in there if we aren't being married there? I just love the look of the place and the history behind it (went every year as a little girl and my uncle would give us a tour every year, would even let us ring the bells!). I'm hoping they agree but i don' t know if people would look at us weird for doing it. Thoughts?

Hmmm, that's tough b/c it is sentimental to you, but I'd say save the church pictures for your wedding day, even though that's not where you're getting married. That's just me though, JMO!!

I don't think thats weird, I think you should do whatever makes you happy and the church means something to you, so I think its fine.

Oh, we're already married. Did a rush thing in March after DH got laid off. We were never getting married in a church anyway. Originally we were doing a big wedding at the Riverview. So now instead we are just going crazy a having a full day photo shoot with a mock wedding ceremony with immediate family at the arboretum and then taking off in a limo to different locations to take pics. Just having a hard time finding places in Suffolk. Feel like everything is out in nassau or the city.

Oh!!! Then go for it! I was thinking it would be a jinx, but since you're already married, then I actually like the idea!
