I think photobooths are the way to go! We are getting one. Sometimes, people don't even use the disposables or one person just takes stupid pics of themself the whole time lol. I like the photobooth b/c it is fun & different...& you get access to all the booth pics from the night!

I love the idea of a photobooth. It's really different and I think it would be a lot of fun to have and great mementos from your guests. I really dislike having disposable cameras. I'd prefer to have people bring their own digital cameras and upload the pictures to a shared album or something. But you have to consider the cost of course. Have you gotten a quote on a photobooth?

Another thing to consider, which a friend of ours did, was have a polaroid camera going around. People took pictures of themselves, wrote something on it, and put it in a book.

I like the idea of passing a polaroid but just don't know if they are $$$. THe booth is $1500 I think.

developing like 30 rolls of cameras will be pretty expensive too. and IMO, i think kids tend to take the cameras and take silly pics.

Honestly, silly pics are going to happen whether its disposables or photobooths... in fact, i would think that photobooths would get even sillier than disposables...

Do you get to keep the photobook photos? or is it a favor for the guests?

the photobooths that i looked at give you a disk with all the photos... and the person gets to keep the hard copy

We're getting our photobooth from partybooths.com and they are very reasonable compared to other photobooth companies. $895 for 3 hours. Check 'em out!

ETA: And we're getting a CD with all the pictures as well as them posted online and an attendant there to help people work it and make sure it goes smoothly. I opted not to get the scrapbook package from them because I am doing my own but they do offer it.

I love the photobooth, but my only concern is that people would be distracted from the wedding and lined up for the booth

I have friend from work that did the photobooth at her wedding and her guests loved it. She said it was worth every penny and the guests enjoyed taking away their own photobooth pics. It is such a cute idea!

We're opening the photobooth for the last 3 hours of the reception, so it'll be open as people are finishing up their dinners which works for me. Our dances and everything will be out of the way- if they miss the cake cutting, oh well.

That's a good price. I thought it was so much more. Which vendor are you using?

Re: Photobooth vs. Disposables

im not a fan of the disposable cameras for a few reasons
1- alot of people take really stupid inappropriate pics
2- people all tend to take the same pics of everything (cake cutting, 1st dance, bo-k toss, etc)
3- it will cost a lot to develop them and you may not get a lot of pics that are worth it per roll
4- the quality of the photos arent that great

i'd say if you can spring for it, go for a photo booth but i would also keep it close or inside the ballroom because i have heard that people congregate (sp?) around them and if its far from your ballroom then all of those people are not in your reception room

That sounds really great! If its in your budget then go for it. I do agree with the previous posters that you should keep it in the ballroom if possible so people aren't leaving the main room during the party.
