Photog must takes...

how many of you are giving your photog a very detailed list of must takes? I mean I have a few photo journalism shots that I want them to try and take but I dont feel like I should have to tell them to get a picture of me with my mom lol.

Does anyone agree?? I feel like if I give them too detailed of a list it will take away from the natural shots of the day.. but then I also feel liek what if they miss a classic shot...

I only gave them a list of things that i didnt think were intuitive or things that i really wanted a picture of, like a picture of the wedding bands with the invite or pictures of reception details. everything else i think they will know to get pics of

you can absolutely give them a list of must-take photos. you can also let them know that you would like a lot of candid photos as well

i actually gave him photos of must-take photos. I copied some that I liked and gave them to him so on the big day he can try and mimick them.

I saw one on pinterest that I 'pinned'- looked awesome. It's B&G in the center of the dance floor, all the guests around them in a circle and tehn the picture was taken looking down, like the photographer took it from overhead, so neat.

I also like the ones of the groomsmen in their tuxes and converse sneakers- it's so cute, little boy charm :)

I'm totally with you! They should know to take certain shots. What I will do before my final meeting is browse their wedding galleries and see what photos they have taken for other brides (My photographer puts entire wedding albums online). If I see certain deficiencies I will make sure to list them. But otherwise I'm expecting them to know to take certain photos.

I have lots of confidence in my photographer!!

I gave them a list, they barely glanced at the thing. And the few they DID make sure they took, they took with the groomsmen instead of the bridesmaids. Didn't matter! I didn't miss any of the photos and I loved the ones they took. I don't really like posey or planned photos- they are so much better when they happen naturally.

I agree with this. Keep the list short - unique must-haves only.

This! You are hiring them for a reason because you love their work and are confident in their craft. Give them interesting unusual or journalistic shots you must have...and for the most part they know all of the formal and normal shots to take.

I gave mine less than 10 must takes...and family member shots...that's about it
