Photog vent

As I mentioned the other day, FH and I met with a photographer who apparently e-mails a quote AFTER an in-person meeting, and when he sent the quote, it was FAR FAR AWAY from our budget.

So, we e-mailed him back, asking him to take out the following, telling him that we may add some of them on after we see a breakdown of price:

- Parents albums (we'll do them on shutterfly or another site)
- Thank you cards (again, can do 'em ourselves)
- Mini album (which we never discussed with him)
- Extra prints (which we weren't sure we wanted anyway...this included 3 11x14's and 5 8x10's)
- Engagement shoot (which we think we want, but wanted to see how much $$$ it would be)

Apparently, removing ALL of that (leaving us with ONLY our album for ourselves and the photos on a CD) knocks the price down by a measly $600. Why, you ask? Well I asked too. This particular place charges a MINIMUM of $4,999 for a spring or summer Saturday or Sunday wedding.

To that I say, 'well I'm getting married on Father's Day, a VERY unpopular wedding date, so have fun booking a wedding to photograph on my date, a-holes!!!!!!!!'

Has anyone ever heard of a MINIMUM fee for spring/summer weddings?! W-T-F?!?!?!

Argh. Back to the drawing board. I am now only meeting with places who will confirm with me over the phone that a price quote - even an estimate - will be given AT THE FACE-TO-FACE meeting.

It's alright in a way because we got some great Indian food and beer and then I went to Ikea kinda blitzed.

I didn't let it ruin my day!

Wow, that is ridiculous. I've never heard of that. Have you checked with Proline? For everything that you want, I think it would be definitely under your budget, that you posted the other day. I can FM you prices if you like. Good Luck!!!

That is ridiculous!!! The fact that they wouldn't give you a quote in person and then charge a minimum for spring/summer weddings is absurd!!

Have you checked out Imagine Studios?? They have a few different packages for different prices. Their work is amazing and has a very romantic feel to it. Lia, the photographer, is so sweet!! FM me if you want additional info.

some vendors think just b/c its a wedding they can charge and do whatever they want. well GL to them - NOT!
this whole taking out stuff and ending up with almost the same quote reminds me of my florist quote
