in general, how much do photographers cost? Trying to plan a budget that is realistic (but probably impossible) and I know the big thing for me will be photography and flowers. Dunno about video yet. Would anyone be able to help me by letting me know in general how much photographers go for?
Thanks

Re: Photographer ?
It really depends who you use - I've seen packages from $2k to $10k depending on the photographer and what you want.

Re: Photographer ?
looking for a good number of proofs, someone who could (if possible for the cost) do some of the various color effects off B&w, color, and B&W with color accents. The albums can be done later after the wedding when we can afford it, but looking for a good quality photographer who doesnt cost an arm and a leg. There was one that I had seen on here that I really liked, but then someone posted that he no longer was doing wedding photography.

Re: Photographer ?
I've been photog vendor shopping.. it really ranges.. (and I hate when people tell me that).. but it does...
On the low end you can spend like about $1500 for photo - check 12th night photogs
On the high end you could be spending from like $4000 - and that seems to be the low end on the high end... if that makes sense.. check out patken, franklin square photog
the in betweens... proline, lavendar bridal studio ...
those are all I know so far.
I think you should set a price and then start shopping and revise it as necessary... I'm big on clicking with a vendor but I too am on a budget. I started out only wanting to spend about $4000 with photo and video... now i'm thinking I want photo and video about $6000 ... because of who i've clicked with so far... hth

Imagine Studios may be a good option for you, for what you are looking for. but they are not cheap....they definitely can approaching the $4-6K range, but the work is gorgoues
look under Community---Photo Albums at the top of the screen, and find MissingtheBGene. her pics are by imagine and they are just gorgoues. they include everything you were talking about

it really does depend-on what you want and what you need. ours was around $3000. but we changed the packages around. they were offering things we really didnt want or need. make a list of things and then when you look at the packages it might be easier to decide on what to go with.

Re: Photographer ?
I am in the same boat (looking for a photograher)... Called Patken today to see about pricing, which is hard to tell before I honestly know what I want. But reason I mention it is because they give a discount because they are an 'in-house' vendor with Jericho Terrace where FH and I are marrying...
So, it might be good to check out any preferred or in-house photographers in case you stumble upon a discount.
Good luck and please keep us posted!

I'm using Imagine Studios too. She's awesome and I highly recommend her. My package is $5K with her (no video). My e-pics are in my album. You can FM me if you have questions.
Other photographers that I saw that I thought were REALLY good were Creative Compositions, Sherwood Triart, Verdi, Visual Concepts and Artisan.
One that I didn't see b/c I didn't know about that seems to do awesome work is Angelica Glass.

12th Night would definitely be a good place to go. We used 12th Night and spent around $2,300, but that was for 2 photographers. You could just have one. Dom is great. His whole team is. You don't have to get an album through them, you can do your own thing and spend less. He can do all those color effects. You get 3 DVD's with your photo's that they have touched up and color corrected. It is a chapter DVD and it has music to it also. You also get 1 DVD with all your photo's. If you have any other questions, let me know.

I also highly recommend 12th Night! Excellent quality for a VERY reasonable price. Check out my review for pics if you want

Re: Photographer ?
Jiffy reccommended them as well, I was also reading a lot about Velvet studios.
Granted, I have A LONG time to worry about this, but if I can get ideas now and narrow down the field, I wont be QUITE as neurotic when it comes time to book lol

I actually can tell for a fact that you can decide on a photographer budget and stick to it.
It all depends how much you want to spent and what you get for your money.
Things that add up to the price.
- full day (10 hours plus hour coverage) vs. just wedding pics - a 2nd photographer (and assistant, etc.) - do you want albums (how many groom/bride, parents, style (magazine, coffee table, traditional). and how many photos in each) vs. proofs on a DVD (you make you own album) - how many proofs?
Decide what is important to you and your FH then once you know what you want you can bring your list to several photographers and ask them to price the 'SAME' items on your list. Be very careful of packages. In general, it's more that you really want or not what you want. Which mean you have to add optional stuff (more $) and you get stuff you don't want. I did not want a 11x14 pics of me and DH. When in the heck would I put this monster print on my wall. You get the idea!!!
