Photographer Album
Did anyone not purchase albums from their photographer but instead make their own album using the digital images/proofs? I'd love to know if people would recommend or not recommend this...

I think it really depends on you. My sister did that and it worked out very well for her. She was willing to spend the time and energy to put it together herself. I, on the other hand, know myself and know I'd probably be pretty lazy about it and wouldn't get around to doing it ever. But if you don't mind putting in the effort, I think it is a great idea! Good luck!
I am def using my photographer, I know him and his work and I feel 100% safe with him doing it and not someone else
For me, it's more a matter of feeling like the albums are sort of a rip off. I want a really GREAT photographer - I'm so into photography and it's important me to have a really great quality photographer. I'd rather spend a lot of money on the actual service and then put the album together myself than skimp on the service so that I can buy a $1500 album. What I'm concerned about, though, is whether the quality of album that you can get from mypublisher.com or dotphoto.com is just very, very inferior to a photographer's album. Does anyone know if that is the case, or if they are relatively comparable?
We are getting a friend who is a programmer by day abd dabbles in photography at night.
