Ok, I was originally all set to use this one photographer. I loved her work (I personally don't think I've seen anyone better) and was kind of impressed by her resume (a lot of her pics end up in mags and books like In Style and Vera Wang on Weddings - she also does a lot of celebs weddings). But, in the end, some other expenses came up and FI and I decided we couldn't afford her. So, we looked around and found someone else - he too does great work and I am very happy with him, but I e-mailed the other photographer to tell her that we couldn't use her and why and she just e-mailed me back and said that because of my situation she'd be willing to work something out with me in terms of the price. Well, now I'm bummed because I could probably afford her now and I've already put down a deposit with the other guy. Don't get me wrong, I am not unhappy with him - I was really happy until now I feel like I missed out on something. Guess I'm just venting. Nothing I can do now I suppose...

How much is the deposit you left? It may be worth losing it if you had your heart set on the other photographer. (You may even be able to get it back if the other rebooks the date)

Can't yuou call the other photographer back and cancel, if they get someone else to take your date, it should be no prob to give you a refund

The deposit was $550. I don't know if he would give it back if he booked someone else. I never thought about it (maybe there's hope - this is why I come to you guys!). The photographer I had my heart set on was Sheila Brown. If you want info on her FM me - she doesn't advertise and I only found out about her through my videographer. The photographer I put a deposit down with is Twelfth Night Photography. Like I said, he does great work and I'm not unhappy with him at all - I just really had my heart set on Sheila.

Check your contract. My photographer allows you to cancel the contract at least 6 mos before the wedding and will return your deposit back, if you put the request in writing.
