Photographer dilemna...

So, I am having a hard time with this...

We have a family friend who is a photographer. She does amazing work. She did our engagement pictures for free and they came out great. She wants to do our wedding and we want her to, but here is the issue... I am not sure she does all of those custom albums. I am talking about the ones with the glass cover and the cardboard pages. She also does not do custom work for the parent books. It is not because she is not good enough but because she doesn't have the equipment.

I want to possibly book another photographer but I feel bad. I don't want to her to think it is because I don't think she is good enough, because I do. I just don't want to regret not getting those custom albums. I mean they are my wedding pictures, I want all of those gorgeous albums made. I am sure I can probably find someone to make them after the fact but then I can imagine how much it would cost when not already included in a photography package.

HELP!! I don't know what to do.

Re: Photographer dilemna...

I think you should be honest about how important the albums are to you and maybe ask her if that is something she is able to do. Some photographers work out of their homes so maybe there is a vendor she can do it through? I'm not sure if that is even possible, but if not I think you should just be upfront with her now before it gets too close, and stress how important it is to you to choose packages that include albums.

Photographer dilemna...

Some photography companies provide book design and ordering. You can inquire if you still want your friend to do the wedding. I'm not sure how much it will cost.

Re: Photographer dilemna...

Thanks for the advice girls! Does anyone know of any vendors that do the wedding albums so I can possibly do some research before I make my decision?

I have a friend who are photographers as well, and had a similar situation. I explained how I wanted the albums and the ones on shutter fly just wouldn't do. I told her that I would love for her to do the reception , for those candid shots the photography company might miss she was totally fine with it and understood.

I would be honest and tell her you want her to your pics but you want the extra stuff that she cant offer. Even though she might not do it she might have a friend in the business that does.
