ok so when purchasing a photo package with a photographer is it really a big deal to not recieve a album???? I live in Rochester and i can get a package that includes all negatives and a few prints for $800 less than if I buy the one with the album....... Is an album really that difficult to put together? Im really confused about what to do about this............photographers are sooooooo expensive and i really like this one photographers work. I dont get as much with his package as if i went with someone else but i really really like his style and his sample photos.......

I think its personal opinion ...if you want an album go for it..if not Yes i think you can definately make one for a lot cheaper..you could also do a scrap book of the wedding..That will cut alot of costs on the photographer!

Re: Photographer help
Alot of people do it themselves. How difficult it is hmmm it can probably get frustrating...Plus I don't know what they look like when you do it yourself...I love the magazine style albums and i think that would be difficult to do, not sure though.
I agree, i love the magazine style too. and with the diversity of digital, it is easy to realy match many different tasts, wether it be simple and modern or more traditional. Doing it yourself might get a bit fustrating as was said...but i think that many photographers will let you get the albumn after the fact if you wanted. and if you get your images on DVD or your negatives, you can always take it elsewhere to have it done if you decide you want it.
if you are really interested in doing it yourself, sites like shutterfly or snapfish have tools to make photo-books. if you have some images that you want to put in a book, maybe a vacation or something, you could try it out and see how it comes out. Hope it helps and good luck!
btw- i just got back from being in rochester for 2 years for grad school :)

You have to watch out where you take it after. Like another photography company can't do it, it will say so in the contract you sign with the photographer...You have to make sure the photographer will also give you rights, you have to sign papers for that in order for you to be able to do things with it because the pictures are copyrighted

yep, most photographers i met with do that anyway and you sign off that they are entitled to use them for promotion/advertising. at least that is my experience

yeah i would hope that most will do allow you to do things with pictures, but some can be difficult.
Hmmm i am just curious if any did their own magazine style album, i would imagine it'd be quite difficult to do

Re: Photographer help
Do you mean if any of the photographers did them? designed them or actually printed and bound?
i think that most will design them, and send them out to be printed. i think that would be the best, since it is the photographer who knows you and took the pictures....but then again i have not met with any of those big photo firms...so i am not sure how they would do it.

NOOO I mean people who decide to do their own albums instead of buying one from the photographer...I mean i dont even know how they would do a magazine style album, guess they would have to do different type of album.

ohh haha i was a little confused by the question.
i think it depends on the person who decides to do them themselves. if they have a graphic design background or any type of artistic and computer background, i am sure they could come up with some great designs (granted very time consuming I am sure). i think the problem would be finding a place to print it, but someone in the design industry may know a printer or someone to do it....i think it would take research though....probably make more sense to work with your photographer if you want to design it.
the ones that you can order online have limited layouts i believe, but there are ways to get around it, like making collages before you actually upload the images to the album. but i have not seen a place that will do full bleed like that yet.

Yeah i think i would drive myself crazy if i had to do it myself...Definitely not an easy task at all.
