Photographer Help...LONG! Questionable UPDATE!
I need some major advice re: my photographer. We got married 2 months ago and have yet to get our proofs and I am really starting to get worried. Here is the LONG story. Please tell me what you think and if there is anything I can do.
After we got back from our HM (~3 weeks), I called the studio (Mark Kaufman Studios) to find out when the proofs would be ready, Mark called me back and told me that they were ready and to call the office manager to pay the balance and get them shipped. When I spoke to the office manger, she said they weren't ready yet but got a fax from the lab saying they would be ready in the next couple days. So, about a week goes by and a couple of unreturned phone calls later, I finally hear from Mark who tells me, once again, the proofs are ready and would be mailed out in the next day or two. He told me to call the office to pay off the balance and he would mail them out. So, I did. This was a Wednesday. By the following Wednesday, we still hadn't received them so I got concerned and called again. At that point, there were a bunch of phone calls back and forth between me and the office manager trying to figure out where they were. She didn't think they were ready but couldn't get in touch with Mark to confirm/disconfirm. Eventually I heard from Mark, the Tuesday before Labor Day, and was told that it turned out that my photographer (Mark is the owner of the studio. Jodi was my photographer) just sent in my film so it was not at the lab the whole time. Mark explained the confusion by saying that the lab thought
he was checking the status of my engagement photos (which obviously were done) because they had no other film for me. At that time, Mark stated that he was 'happy that they weren't lost' and assured me that it would be rushed and should be sent out by the end of the week (Friday before Labor Day). I didn't hear from him so I called him the next Tuesday and he said that because of the long weekend they weren't ready yet, but would be ready by the end of the week. I called again yesterday. first, during the day and I spoke with the office manager who was on her way to the lab and was going to check and call me back. I never got a call back but got in touch in the evening. Mark reported that he didn't have word on them yet but thought for sure they would be ready. I instructed him to have his office manager call me no matter what today and of course I never heard. I called and left a message and still no word.
Now, does this sound like BS or could this be a legitimate story? He sounds really genuinely upset and plans to compensate me for the delay but I am still really concerned. Is there anything I can do? How long has it taken for other MK brides to get proofs? Please Help!!!
***Update. I just got a call from Mark and he said they are DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY. I still don't believe him until I receive them but please cross your fingers for me!
