I am meeting with a photographer whose pictures on his website I love. He has some reviews on here saying he was really good and his prices are reasonable. So I got a quote which is really good. Only thing is, no albums are included. I mean don't most people want an album? The album is an extra 800 and parents albums are another 250 each, granted they are top of the line albums. I was thinking of cutting out the parent albums. Has anyone done this? I never even heard of parent albums until I started visiting places which included them and always assumed you just got one album. He does give you a complete copy of all the edited pictures so I could always get an album made up at a later date, but I wouldn't even know where to go or how much it would cost.

Re: Photographer not including album
I have heard of a lot of people cutting them out of their package to cut the cost then making parent albums on shutterfly or kodak.com.

What photographer is it?? We are not looking to do any albums so that we can still get a good photographer and not spend an arm and a leg.

Re: Photographer not including album
I opted out of all albums for now to cut costs, we get 800+proofs digitally and all day coverage (3 locations) No overtime fees. And he is giving me the option to add them after the wedding. For somewhere around 1400-1500 (dont have the paper in front of me) . I plan on adding our album if things pick up financially. We are using Gary Leli.

Re: Photographer not including album
Personally I like the 'a la carte' type of photography package. Doing it this way ensures that you will be able to see the product before you contract to have him do albums for you. You can also do the albums yourself. It leaves more options for you. If you want to give the parents an album but don't want to spend what he's asking for a traditional album, then just have him print re-touched proofs and put them in a pretty album for your parents. This way, they have pictures but you wont' have to spend all that money on them. You can do what you want when you have this type of package to work with. I like freedom and I refused to sign with a photographer who was trying to sell me a full package with albums etc included.

Re: Photographer not including album
We were going to do that route but after doing a lot of research I've found some great photogs that offer decent pricing and albums.
I checked out the following companies because I did not want albums either for NOW. I did end up going with 12th night due to their quality of work.
12th night Hybrid Media Production Jadore Love Noelle P. Wilson
FM if you need any information.

Re: Photographer not including album
So many people are opting for doing their own albums through Shutterfly or Snapfish. They are a lot cheaper than going through the photograher too... since you are the one spending time on it, designing it.
The other side of it is you can order your higher quality album after the wedding when you see all of your photos and have more money.

I think the most important thing is getting high res EDITED pics. You can make the albums anytime when you pick up financially. To share with others, you can just upload to one of those photo sites and this way you can print the pics you really want. If they offer you 600-800 small pics, make sure they are NOT WATERMARKED (with photographer's logo) so you can put them in a small album is you wish.
My package has included album but for less money, if she didn't, I'd be OK with that..

Re: Photographer not including album
I cut the albums out and made them myself online. The came out better than most I've seen and we saved a ton of money. In return we got all of the raw images that were taken at the wedding, which IMO is worth more than the album. HTH

Re: Photographer not including album
We were going to cut out the parent albums also because of the cost, but our photographer gave us a deal and lowered the prices. Basically we told him our budget and he gave us everything we wanted.

Re: Photographer not including album
I did this as well with 12th night but figured I would just have them make my album after the wedding. Besides the sites mentioned earlier, what other sites are people using to make their albums?
