I haven't signed my photographer's contract yet because I noticed he wants the remaining payment of $2,000 on the wedding day in cash. Is anyone else paying their full amount before receiving their photos? Doesn't sound right to me and would love to know what payment plans are out there so that I can go back to him and work something else out.

Yes, we have to pay our balance in cash on the day of the wedding. I have the same deal with my DJ and my DOC (actually I have to pay her 1 week before). This seems to be common practice.

My photographer requires the payment in cash the day of....but I'm not sure the exact amount but you do leave a little bit until you pick up your album,prints, etc. But I also know that there were some photographers that I checked out that too the balance when you picked up the cd and supplies like albums. I just think everyone is different. I ampaying my vendors monthly to make it easier for me.

no, most photographers you pay remainder of balance when you receive your pics. Of course you will have a final payment due before the wedding but not the whole thing. A percentage is left until you pick up proofs.
Dj's, florists and all those vendors are very different than a photographer bc on wedding day is when that vendor will provide their service and have nothing else for you after. A photographer and videographer you still have pics, albums and video to pick up. You don't want to pay it all off, i mean how many horror stories have there been with a photographer never giving the proofs.

We don't. We paid a third to book her, a third 4 weeks prior (just paid!), and the final third 4 weeks after the wedding once we have the proofs. I would be hesitant to pay someone 100% upfront for photo. Just me though.

we just put a 500 deposit to book..but have to pay 1/3 of the total bill 3 times. the remainder of the 1st 1/3 is due in 7 months, the next is due 1 month before wedding, & the last is due at the very end when we pick up all pics, including proofs & video etc..I agree that sounds shady..I would not want them being paid in full & then you never receive what you paid for..I've heard some crazy stories too & that it horrible.. Definitely speak to them..

We put 800 down and most of the balance is due the week of the wedding. $200 is due when we pick up our proofs

Yea we pay the remainder before the wedding. It depends on the photographer and company. If this is something your uncomfortable with switch or get reviews about the photographer. But most vendors want the payment day of or alittle before.

We have a 4 payment schedule:
1/4 when we booked 1/4 a month before 1/4 when I get my proofs final payment when I PICK up my albums
I wouldn't pay in full until I received all of the goods I have contracted for.

We are paying the remaining 10% when we pick up the proofs. If this is something you feel uncomfortable about (paying in full before receiving anything) then definitely negotiate it through with the photographer.
