Photographer Prices...please post

Photographer Prices...please post

So, I had my first photographer appointment today. I love his work and style (photojournalistic with a bit of traditional). Not only does he have a wonderful personality but FH and I feel real comfortable with him. The quote he gave us I thought was reasonable. However, I can't stop to wonder if I'm way over my head on this one. Let me break it down and let me know what you guys think and PLEASE feel free to fm or post your package/price.

1 photographer and 1 assistant
10hrs coverage
3 dvd movies
printable dvd data disk (contains all proofs)
engagement session
wedding photo guest book
100 thank you cards
10x10 coffee style book (60 pgs with 60-100 images)

all of this for...ready for this...about 6,500
We originally assigned 5000 for our photo budget and we're not sure if we're going to have a videographer. FH and I have 3 more photographer appts tomorrow. But I'm so ready to book with the first one. I'm beginning to hate wedding planning again

who did you look at? we spent 5k and got all of that plus the 2 parent albums 11x16 2 8x10's etc. seems high but depends on the photographer..so far the photographer has been the hardest decision i made yet!

I shopped around a lot...no joke I saw 15 photographers before my FH cut me off...and the price you got seems pretty high to me. It doesn't seem like you are getting that much.

My favorites were Creative Compositions and Imagine Studios. I also thought Verdi did a beautiful job too. Now that I'm all booked I've seen Angelica Glass' work on here and she's amazing too. I know these photographers are a little on the pricey side but since you didn't blink an eye at $6,500 you'll be fine with these guys and you get more than you were. Also, negotiate the heck out of them! My package was $5,600 and I'm paying $5,000 for it.

Try Duet they have a package for $4799.00 for both photo/ video and a 2006 special package for $4299.00 (without parent albums), and they are great according to all the statements made about them on this board.

Re: Photographer Prices...please post

except for the guest book i'm getting what you are getting plus some 8x10s, 5x7s, 11x14, and 2 parent albums....video and photograhy together(2 photographers) is costing around 4800! Photography was the hardest thing to shop for i found, i went to about 7 vendors. Shop around always remember you can negotiate! we originally thought Gary Leli was too expensive and we told him what we wanted and the price we were hoping to keep it under and he matched and did better. And so we booked him! It's tough but you'll find the photographer you 'click' with!

I would HIGHLY suggest Thomas Paul. If you like the artistic photos call him, and for the price your quoted your gonna laugh when you hear how great his are. By far the most for your $$. FM me if you need more info

i paid $2000 for photo and video.

i get to keep all my proofs and the unedited dvd. i also got an edited dvd. i got about 1500 proofs.

i didn't buy albums from him, but had it put in my contract that if i wanted to add... i had three months to decided and it would be at the discounted price.
