Photographer Start Time

Photographer Start Time

When we met with him to finalize things, I told him what time my church is and based on that, he said his guy, he's not doing the wedding now, is arriving 2 1/2 hours before I leave the house. The limo is picking me up half an hour before the church start time. My family's house is small and is going to be jammed back and I really don't need 5 zillion pictures of me getting ready before the church and I think 2 hours is a really, really, long time to be taking picture. Plus, they informed us, that we only have them for 10 hours meannig he will be leaving 2 hours before the wedding ends so either we will have to move the cake cutting time way up or be forced to pay them extra $ for the extra hour they will be there. So should I just call and tell him I would rather him come to my house an hour later meaning he will be there for an hour before my start time rather then 2?

How big is your bridal party? I think that will determine how long you will need for pics. My chruch is at 2:30 and my photog is arriving at 12:30. I have a large bridal party, though

It's really up to you what's more important. Personally, I'd rather have much fewer getting ready pics and have him stay later at the wedding than have him there 2.5 hours before the ceremony. I think you should maybe ask him to get there an hour and a half before your ceremony start time, just in case he's late or something. (It happened at my friend's wedding this weekend!)

In my case, I just extended our photographer 2 hours because she wasn't going to come in the morning and it's important to me to have getting ready shots and my mom wants pictures in the house.

If I had to choose, in your case, I would want the photographer to stay for the cake cutting rather than come in the morning or just ask him to come an hour instead of 2 1/2 hours before the ceremony.

I am not doing a whole bunch of pics of me getting ready. I am having my photographer there 1 hr before I leave to take pics of my mom, dad, moh, jr. bm and maybe a few 'fake' getting ready pics (make believe moh is buttoning my dress, putting on my shoes etc). I have my photographer for 8 hrs and doing it this way i will have him there till 1/2 before it ends.

laura, my photog said he only needs about 45 mins to take pics in my house before i leave. and i really dont want too many getting ready pictures so that seemed like a good amount of time to me. but it depends on whats more important to you. i'd rather have the photog stick around at the reception rather than spend all that time in the beginning of the day.

I totally agree Michelle. I just got off the phone with him and they really don't like to accomodate people lol. He just kept going on and on how there won't be enought time, then saying how my dress is going to take so long to get into to, I was just at my fitting yesterday and it takes 5 minutes...and he said if he came an hour 1/2 before start time there was no way he could take pictures of my dress hanging up, etc.. and he would be too rushed to do anything. But I explained to him I don't need soo many pictures of me getting ready. Then he's like you're not allowing time for us to get to the church. The church is 3 minutes away literally up the block. I told him that and he said oh no it will take much longer. I didn't want to go back and forth with him, so it got pushed back half an hour instead of the hour I wanted..
