My FH and I went on various interviews during the last few days. We met with three different photographers. Question-We have narrowed it down to two studios. The first has a great reputation, and the package is on the order of $7K; the second has a very good reputation and is on the order of $4k. My FH and I were very pleased with the work of both places, but admit that the first has higher quality pictures, but offered less pictures in the package. (My FH also was 'wowed' a little more by the first studio). I am worried about overburdening my parents...What would you do?

Go for the one photography studio you really love. You want your wedding pictures to wow you when you get them.

The way I made my decision, which was similar to yours, was which photgrapher did I feel I could completely trust with our day. Meaning, which place did I feel like I wouldnt have to worry one moment on my wedding day about what they were doing, how the pictures were going to come out. So for me it was more an emotional decision.

How much of a difference in quality was there from one to the other? Three thousand dollar difference is huge. Since you've narrowed it down to these two then it seems to me that the $4K one made the list for a reason. I certainly don't know what your budget is (or your parents) but IMO if the quality is similar albeit a little less, I'd save the three thousand, get more pictures and go with the $4K photographers. They say you shouldn't skimp on the photographer but there certainly are great photographers out there that wont put your parents in the poor house! JMO

Thank you for your responses. My parents could afford the more expensive one, but they are doing so much and I don't want to push the limit. I personally like the second studio a little bit more while my FH likes the first. Still not sure what to do?

how about paying the difference? If they're wiling to pay for the 4k one and you want the 6k then pay the other 2 yourself if you decide that's who you REALLY want

It depends on your budget and your overall comfort level with the photographer. This was one vendor that I judged based on price, but also on personality. Since you'll be spending ALL DAY with him/her, choose one that you click with (no pun intended ) and gives you what you want.

You definitely have to go with your gut and see who makes you feel the most comfortable...Remember, you will have this person with you all day on one of the most important days of your life!
We went with Christine from Spelman Studios because I loved her!

We had a similar decision but in order to make my decision on the higher priced photographer, I went to see a few other photographers in her range and no one compared in terms of what she offered. I wanted to make sure if I was paying $6000 on a photographer that she was the best out there. And I found out she was perfect for what we wanted. If I had not seen any other expensive photographers though, I don't think I would have felt as comfortable that we made the right decision.

go w/ what you like better - you don't want to have any regrets later. if you really cannot swing it, I'm sure the $4k place is good.

I believe you should go with whoever 'wowed' you and whose personality clicked with yours. Trust your gut! I went with someone who had his own business and wasn't well known. I was amazed by his work and I am so thrilled that I trusted my instinct and went with him.

i would say that if its in your budget, you should go with the one that you really loved. afterall, photos are very important and they will the only written record of your day besides your video.

i would say if your parents are paying it and they gave you a range to spend and you pick the one you really like ($7k) then maybe you can help pay a little bit.....just an idea...dont know if that helps much...im kinda in the same situation.

Same here....there were other more expensive photographers we were looking at, but I didn't get the great feeling I got with her. I know I won't have to worry about my pics b/c she is so great. Just go with your gut. You can always add on pics, enhancements to your packages, right?
