photographer/engagement pictures help!

I have a photographer / engagement pic dilemma.

are you taking pictures at locations other than your wedding venue? are they taken the day of the wedding?

price range is so big. i'm thinking of budgeting 6-7000. what are you budgeting, who are you using, and what does it include?

any help is much appreciated!! i think this decision has been the hardest thus far.
