Photographers - 1 or 2

Are two photographers necessary? I noticed some places have 2 in their packages and others do not.

Opinions anyone?

do you mean more than one vendor? or more than one photographer? are you counting the assistant as one? my GF had a primary, who had a second guy taking candids, and an assistant (what i'm also doing) and she had so many great shots.

Doesn't an assistant just do lights and loading film?

It's really up to you. I had two photogs and I was really pleased. You will definitely have more proofs to chose from if you have 2 photogs because during the reception one person can't be at two places at the same time. also, you will get more angles during your posed and ceremony shots with 2 photogs. But is it necessary, I don't think so.

i think it depends on how many people and what kind of pictures you want.

i know theres a few points that i want to see reactions on different people.. plus with 175 people i figured it'd be easier with 2 cameras.

i'm having 2 cameras because of this, and my photographer had no problem throwing in the other guy, because he owns the place.

I have a main photographer who is a photojournalist. He comes with an assistant who might take a few photos, but is mostly there to assist with film/camers changes. I also hired a 2nd photographer to take more traditional shots. I like the idea of the photojournalist takings pics of us from different angles while we're posed for the formal pictures. I'd seen this done by one of the photographers at B rett M atthews and thought it looked really great.

We are having two photographerss for 2 reasons:

First, FH and I are getting ready at different locations and we want pics of that.

Secondly, one photographer does color digital, the other does B&W film. This way we have a full array or pictures.

I only had one and he did a fantastic job. I still wish I had two though. One just to take candids would have been great.

We had 2 and I was glad we did. We were able to get 2 different perspectives of the day. Many instances were that one photographer missed a part and the other captured it! We did 1 formal and 1 photojournalistic photographer.
