Re: Photographers
We used Doug of Patken. They are amazing at Patken. Their prices are average, however Doug's services are extra. Everyone I show my pictures to think they look like they belong in a magazine and everyone thought Doug was just an amazing guy at our wedding!

Re: Photographers
FH and I are probably going to go with Grey Studios in Floral Park. They aren't the least expensive but they give more than some less than others. I'm probably going to book a 4,000 photo package and if we change our minds they will give money back. They have been in business for over 50 years and while I was skeptical about the money back thing they have a clean BBB write-up.
I looked at Sherwood Triart, Patken, and Duet and my MOH used Silvefox.
I thought Grey is offering the most for the best quality (short of Sherwood- but I can't afford their post-production- colorizations are extra) and they have the tie for best album (Duet is tied with them but I didn't like the quality as much- they are good but I perfer Grey).
Plus, Grey doesn't advertize, like Patken b/c their business is referral run-another testement to their buisness. I just didn't like Patken's style- I know 2 girls who used them and loved them- Patken has good packages also. I'd recommend giving them a look to see if they fit you!
Go for your choice and consider the picture quality, poses, albums, effects, price and photographer raport. There are many good ones and all the ones I checked out were liked by anyone who used them! (sorry so long!)

Why is Doug more expensive?

Re: Photographers
I just got a quote on the phone for Patken and it seems really reasonable --- $1950. Has anyone found a great photographer that beats that price? I'm going to go look for Patken reviews now...
All proofs included in album and on CD, a 20x20 portrait, two 8x8s, enough thank yous for everyone , an 8x10 album with 24 pictures, and an engagement shoot! :)
what do you ladies think?

Sorry - I misread it the first time. Only 24 pictures in your album? That's reallly small. Plus, what about parent albums? When you start adding it all in it's going to cost a lot more.

Re: Photographers
well, i thought that since we're getting the CD, I'll make our own parents albums....the 36 album made it $2150, which wasn't too bad...
our budget for photography was $2000, so I know I'm not going to get that all included, but our parents have said that they don't need one from the studio....

You have to see if you can print from the CD. They somehow protect it so only they can print from it. You should ask them. When you find out please let me know.
THANKS

Yes I think in that price range those are the amount of pictures you get. I'll look over the different packages I've been quoted and I'll let you know.

That's a great price and the picture quality is very good from Patken. That is a smaller sized album but you can always upgrade later.
Definately check that you can print the pics from CD- they won't look as good as the ones Patken gives you- you have to remember that in post-production the exposures are adjusted. If they give you the corrected pictures on CD then you are probably fine but I don't think you can just walk in to CVS and print them.
See Patken in person to make sure that you like their style, they weren't my style, however, if I was keeping my prices where you are they would be the ones I'd use. Like I said, their quality is very good.
The only other option you have is to find a good photographer who is just starting with weddings. They'll give you more for that price. One of my BM did this and her pics were better than most studios!
I think you have a good deal with Patken!

www.fotoverdi.com
expensive, but worth it.
I'm also using Verdi...
I'm paying $4,500 for two photographers, all my proofs (4X6 size in an album), and our album. Parent albums aren't included though...
I feel like they're totally worth it. Check out the website, their work is amazing!
They only have two teams of photographers, though, so they book pretty quickly. Good luck!

Re: Photographers
I'm using Patken too. I just booked them yesterday and went there to see their work. It is absolutely beautiful. Very similar to Verdi as far as photojournalism. I know several people who have used both and they are both amazing. They use all types of ink from color, to b&W, to sephia (spelling?), etc. From what I am hearing, the price for Patken is reasonable for the quality and service. I am paying about 6,300 for photographer, videographer, album with 36 pics, 3 parent albums, photo montage, zap shots and an engagement sitting. Along with 300 proofs in an album and the other sized pics.
