I went to check out Velvet the other day. Liked a lot of work, some was so/so (but really loved bob and his wife). Dont know how to judge. If you've had any experience with them, please let me know!... or if you can recommend another photo/video company that would also be great!
Edit- im starting to get very concerned about photography because i just attended a wedding (which i was in) where the photographer took great shots, but was a complete jerk. He thought he was 'funny' but was annoying ALL day. I dont want that!! I really want someone who takes good shots but it very - NOT IN MY FACE about it. Thanks for all the recommendations!

Both are a little different in style, but both are undiscovered genius and both gave me a great price!

We are using ARTISAN PHOTO GROUP they are a vendor on here. They shot our E-party,, and do FANTASTIC work!! Chuck and his team arent pushy or just in it to sell to you. Really worth checking out!!!

i used Velvet Studios!! LOVED Bob and his wife!! during the wedding they were amazing!! so nice to work with!!

LOVE Laura! She did our Day After shoot!!! She is amazing and sooo nice. I wish she'd done our wedding but we still got great shots from the day after.
Our second shooter was and is also fantastic. Her name is Rachel of Merge weddings. She lives in Boston but travels to the tri state area and thats how she happened to be along with Laura that day-she'd been shooting in LI. This is her blog. We're on there!Merge Weddings
Lastly, we used Al Ojeda through A CANDIDIMAGE for our weddign and eh...you can see the full issues in ym review but this is the site nonetheless.

I went to see Leli, Velvet and Duet but, after meeting with Thomas Paul that was it for me. Velvet does great work but was higher in price then I wanted, my second choice was Duet.

I booked with Velvet. I am very happy with them so far. I can just tell that Bob will not be that in your face type, but he'll get all the shots you want.

I am using Velvet and so far they have been great. Bob took our engagement photos and even though it rained and we had to do them in his studio they still came out great! I will let you know in a few weeks how my pics turn out!

I used Velvet Studios when DH & I were married last September 29th. They did an Amazing job on my Pictures. I have pictures in my album. I very highly recommend Velvet Studios.

Bob, his wife and his son did my wedding and I could not have been more pleased with their work. Not only was their work great, but I felt completely comfortable will all of them that day.
I only posted a few pictures in my profile and I also have 2 of the thank you card design in my profile as well. You cannot go wrong with Bob and Velvet studios. His work and personality are top notch!
