photographers...sorry little long

Original post by TGs Lady 22908

In the last month I've been to 5 photographers all of whom I could see myself booking in the long run. I enjoy their work, the albums are beautiful and the prices are more or less the same all around.

Just for clarification I've been to:
-Pro-Line Studios
-Patken Photo
-Velvet Studio
-Duet
-Silverfox

I'm at the point where I'm just tired of seeing photographers but in the back of my head I know that there has to be a reason that I haven't booked someone yet or haven't been totally in love with any one place.

Am I being too picky? How many photographers did you see before booking? What prompted you to pick the photographer that you did?

I know that all the studios that I have been to do what I want...a mix of posed shots with mostly candids and they offer mostly the same things. I just don't know....I was going to go with Patken but when I went for the appt in late March they said they had very limited time open for my date, which makes me worry that if I pick them and go to put down a deposit that they will be booked and I will have to start over again. I also really loved Silverfox (the people and their work) but their deposit is much more of the total balance then most places....but I really don't want that to be the deposit amount to be the deciding factor....

Everyone's work is running all together in my head and I just need some help and/or suggestions to help me seperate and decide. Any input at all would be soooo awesome...

We met with a couple photographers, in the end we chose SilverFox...loved the quality of their work but the main reason was, we wanted John to be around us on our wedding day. He had such a great vibe and calmness to him.

Even though the wedding is over a year away, I already consider him a friend.

He has given us great recommendations on other vendors and him and his wife are always quick at returning phone calls or emails.. Definitey at this point my favorite vendor

hi. we decided to use Silverfox too. They were the 7th ones we saw and we booked on the spot. But after talking to 6 others we sort of knew what we were looking for.
One thing that John may not have mentioned to you which might help lessen your deposit - - that's if he's still doing it (we booked Nov 06)-- is that you can sign up for the photog only , not include any album prices in that ,but he freezes your price list to the prices when you sign the contract so you can decide on what you want after you see your proofs.
His studio also has the graphics designers in house so I'm hoping that there's more chance to interact with them if you want the magazine style to tell them what you want. I guess I'll find all that out in Sep.
