Photographer/Video

Photographer/Video

Do you think it's better to have the same vendor do your photos and video? Or is it irrelevant? I think I'm going crazy, but, I wonder whether it could potentially lead to drama. For example, the videographer and photographer stepping on each others toes. =) Is this even a rational thought to have?!

you bring up an interesting point. my photographer doesn't do videos so i can't go thru the same place, but i'm not sweating over it.

Do you think you get a better deal if you do both with the same vendor? I have such a wild imagination. Get the wrong personalities together and it could be a disaster. I think I'm over-reacting. lol.

we opted for the same company to do both becasue i was nervous about them not working together before so I wanted one less stress plus i fell in love with both the video and photo from one place so it made it easy

I think it depends on you like the work and if you are getting good price.

We booked them separate and it actually cost us less...

I think I'm just over-thinking this. Too much reality T.V.. lol

That didnt occur to me until I started meeting w/ photographers who traded war stories about how the video guys would step on the toes of the photog or vice versa when covering important moments throughout the day. For that reason I decided to add the video option with my photographer instead of using a different company for video. Why take chances?

I went with a separate video guy. What blew my mind was when my videographer told me that sometimes the photographers will call various videographers last minute to get someone to do the shoot because they don't have someone. I actually met with a photographer who had mentioned doing this to help another company out with business. It worried me a little.

I agree. I would probably feel more secure if they were both from the same vendor. I think the whole photo and video thing is probably going to end up frustrating me.

Wow! I heard the same thing... Just terrible!
Doing that just to keep the extra money in house is sad..........

Re: Photographer/Video

ok so heres the thing... booking seperate vendors you run the risk of them not getting along and potentially leading to bigger problems.... but if you book together than you have less choice in who you want for video or vica versa

i booked seperaye vendors BUT i asked my photographer for some video rec's and then i ran the name of my videographer past him to see if he;d worked with him before

I booked my Video through my Photog... but they are two different companies... i just didnt want the hassle of two different contracts, and two different deposits and yadda yadda

Re: Photographer/Video

I never thought about it until I asked the photographer I had at my engagement party that I'd like to have her at the wedding. I told her I'd like to have another photographer AND a videographer, when she informed me that she normally brings another photographer with her... she said she wouldn't have a problem with the video guy though.

My reasoning was that I wanted to get both the video and photo from the same place... perhaps better price and work together easier AND less stress and confusion for me.
