i just spoke to someone that was recommended . She has a studio set up in her house and i have seen some of her work and it is nice and her prices are great!
Now i just want engagement pictures because I am doing the rest in Aruba
so my question was ...she told me that i will not receive a disk and i cannot scan them at all.. for all you girls that have your epics in your album...did you ever hear of this?

Nope....I scanned my e-pics and e-mailed them to my family overseas. I don't see why you CAN'T do it. Scanned images don't have the same high quality as originals so be sure to scan them at a high resolution.
I can understand her not wanting to give you a high resolution disk of pics since then you'll be able to print as many as you like and she wouldn't get paid for it. But most photographer now give you a low resoulution disk of pics.

i had told her that i want them to put them on my website because i know alot of people will be using it for travel information i guess i will have to find somewhere else

are your e-pics going to be taken with a digital camera? If so she should give them to you on a disk (those would be the negatives) but maybe you can buy them off of her? for an additional price. Some photographer's charge extra for the negatives.

She's doing that so she can charge you every time. There is no reason why you shouldn't be entitled to a disk of your proofs for you to scan and do whatever you want with. That may be why she is more affordable now...she'll bang you over the head later.

IF YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEM THEN THEY ARE YOURS!!! WHAT DOES SHE THINK, SHE CAN USE THEM TO PROMOTE HERSELF? GET THE NEGS. OR THE DISC AND MAKE HER SIGN THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAY WHEN AND WHERE THESE PICS ARE PRINTED

technically, the photographer owns the copyright to the photographers and he/she can chose to share the copyright with their brides. however, i think that all photographers should share their copyright w/brides and not try to nickle and dime them for every picture that they want to copy! there are plenty of photographers who will share the copyright with you.

they are pictures of my FH and me ...what the !!!! i just dont understand I should be able to do what I want with them...it's not like i'm gonna sell pictures of myself!!! i'm glad you girls agree with me ...i thought this was a bit crazy
