so we have thought all along we were going to book sherwood triart. Even though I too fell in love with what I saw...I'm the level headed/ realistic one in the relationship so i told FH maybe we should still shop around because $6-7K is ALOT to spend on photography...they are deffinately not the cheaper end of the spectrum...in fact...i think they are higher than moderate prices, but I could be wrong. All the while FH insisted he didn't care, he wanted sherwood because they are amazing and his sis used them 10 yrs ago when she got married and her pictures were great. FFWD to today I'm talking with his mom about what we need to book etc. I tell her how I'm thinking maybe I should talk to him again about re-considering because the photography is whats killing our budget...I spoke to FH and he says he's deff open now to look into other photographers.

so my question is...does anyone know of a good quality photographer that does excellent work and has quick turnaround for less than the aforementioned price? (prefferably one who includes a disk of proofs in their packages)

I like duet and perceptions and daniel krieger so far. Thomas paul has nice photography but I'm not a fan of the excessive graphics like the rays of light and light orbs...its just too much for me.

I don't know if this helps, but Thomas Paul gives you 5 to 10 graphic shots in your final product. I received 850 pictures and I think 6 graphic shots. I got married on 1/26 and had my shots back last Thursday (2/7). I got all of my proofs and high res disks of all shots, both edited and unedited in less than 2 weeks. You could probably ask for no graphics, he has someone who does that for him. His proofs really don't need anything done to them anyway (which is why I chose him...and the price . His deal was the best with incredible pictures as well). I have pictures in my album without the graphics, also. If he's still not your style I almost booked with Twelfth Night before I met with Thomas Paul. Their pictures are great, too.

I booked with Proline, for both photo and video, cause I liked their work and found them to be very reasonably priced. Plus, you get the proofs on the CD, and they even said you don't have to come back to them to get copies made. I really liked that cause I know a lot of places have the copyright thing and only let you go back to them if you want more copies of certain pics.

Also, I think it's really smart that you're looking to cut down the amount you spend on photography. My sister-in-law and my friend both told me after their wedding, if they had to do everything over, they would've spent the least amount on photography. A lot of people make a big deal saying you want the best photographer, these are memories, etc. But they both told me how they looked at their albums when they got them, but now they don't look at it anymore. In fact, the album is away somewhere in storage. So the whole novelty of it wears off after marriage. And that's why they feel like it's not worth it to spend so much money on it.

Another photographer that was highly recommended to me was Chuck from Artisan. My friend loved him. Not sure of his pricing, and if he gives you a CD, but I guess he's someone to check out.

I too will suggest TP, but I thought I remembered him telling me he was pretty much full for 2008 - but def no harm in calling!!!

I also really liked 12th night and duet. . .I know you asked about Patken pricing, I think they are actually very reasonably priced (didn't get a quote from them, but it was what I heard)

patken is def a lot cheaper than that, and that's who we're using! right angle and artisan are also great, and around the same price wise as patken.
