After recently visiting Duet and Patken Photography, I am torn! Can anyone shed some light and if so what photographer would you recommend. Thanks!

back in 2007, so it might be different now, Patken said they did not release the dvd of your proofs right away; they held them for at least 6 mos. So if you want to print pics yourself you'd have to wait that long. don't know if that's important to you but if it is, it's a factor to consider in your decision.

From the work I loved Patken more..but I didn't like that I didn't get the rights to my pics until 6 months later (they never told me I read it on here)
But if they are your only choices I would pick Patken

I met with both,,,,
I really liked Duet and their professionalism- They were so nice and my boss had just recently used them for her wedding and her pics are beautiful..
I liked patken also, however I was not impressed by the haggling and i thought it was a little unprofessional...
I went with Blue daisy- however my second choice would be duet!!!

Absolutely positively DUET!! They are so nice to work with. They're photos are tasteful and gorgeous. They have more of a small business feel. Patken seemed too 'factory' for me. Also, your proofs are completely different from Patken (with their squae photos and patken name on the front vs. Duet normal 4x6 proofs.) If Duet is available...get them! Also, check out their video samples on the website.

we met with both on the same day, patken was before duet. with patken, i didnt really like their attitude toward us, everything had a price, and figuring out a package for us was like pulling teeth. we left there with so many different numbers. when we went to duet, we fell in love with their work and thought they were going to be super expensive. but when we sat down with eric, he put a package together for us instantly, and comparing apples to apples, they were less money for better quality. and they were more willing to throw stuff in to make us happy. so we went with them and couldnt be more pleased. e-pics by TJ in my album

I met with both, and we picked Duet, I fell in love with duet's photos. I think Patken does beautiful work, you can't go wrong with either here are the reasons I picked DUET over Patken and the other photographers I visited.
• the right to all of my photos • have a location engagement session • have 2 photographers the day of
Check out my engagement photos in my album We are soooooo happy with them and have gotten so many complements on them!
One more thing - Patken danced around with prices when we asked how much extra pictures were, they said the quicker you get your album the cheaper the extras are. my FH was not happy with that at all.
All of our extras are in out contract with duet.

I wish I could go with Duet, but they are booked for my date
Patken I thought was very reasonable. We are still meeting with photographers, but they are our top choice so far. You get alot for your money. Many of the brides on here reccomend Jessie. We actually were able to meet her on our appointment and she is so cool. Her style is awesome if you like the sexy type. Do a search for her on here.

we booked with patken, but I wish we would have sat with duet. imo their pictures are neck and neck... but we went to patken and fh said that was the last place we were going and to pick out of the ones we've been to... they blew the others away... based on packages i've seen posted on here, we got scr ewed moneywise... we're paying almost $5000 and only getting like 30 pictures (and video) and i didn't know about this whole rights thing until just now..... um.. WHAT!? can someone explain please!?
