Photography Help

Photography Help

FH and I have started looking into vendors for our May-June wedding.

We both agree that photography is very important to us but we don't want to lose an arm and a leg trying to pay for it. I'm in love with Thomas Paul but know FH and I can't afford it.

We've decided that we would like full coverage and don't want albums just our proofs.

What is the average number of proofs from a full day of coverage??? Also has anyone talked to any photographers that are flexible with price??

Have you looked into TP's prices?

They are probably more reasonable than you think.. . if you don't mind sharing your budget, we might be able to help you more.

Proofs range from like 600-1200, from what I have seen.

Did you talk to Thomas Paul about this he's very understanding and he was able to work with our budget

well i would start calling some photographers now to see if they have dates available for may/june, even ones you are interested in but not 100% sure. This way it will help narrow your list down when you see what is available.

every photographer guarantees a different number for proofs, but i would say around 1000 proofs or a little more is average...some are even 600-800

Well of course when it comes to budget I have none but FH on the other had does

But we were thinking around $1,500....but I think that this is an INSANE amount of money to pay just to get proofs and nothing else.

From looking at websites and e-mailing photographers it seems like coverage by one photographer and proofs is all I'm going to get for a price like that.

Am I living under a rock and this is a normal price?? I don't want albums but maybe a pic or 2 along with the proofs.

HELP!! I feel so out of the loop!!

i think for 12th night their basic is about $1800, if not that then im either off by very little.

There are some you can find in that price but without albums...many photographers charge in the upper hundreds and also 1k and over just for albums.

I would still check out 12th night they might be able to work with you

from what ive seen, the average for photographers is 2k-5k. This is from seeing many girls on here posting their quotes

Okay I just got off the phone with Thomas Paul and of course they are booked for the date that FH and I are looking for.

Does anyone know of other photographers that have the Thomas Paul style...I love the whole photojournalistic/candid style pics.

most photojournalistic photographers are gonna be more money. Most are independent so all costs for them are out of pocket so the costs are different. Unless you find somebody new who is starting out. I know a few girls did this for e-pics and even e-party and were able to get a good price bc they were starting out

Just something to throw out there with your pictures - if you really like the photojournalistic style, I would try and go for it. You won't have a chance to take these pictures over!

Good think about a photographer is that usually half of the balance isn't due until after the wedding (and after any gifts ) So even if you don't have the money upfront to shell out for the photog style you are looking for, you might be able to afford the upfront piece and use some gift money to pay the balance, once you get your proofs. Just an idea Everyone should get the pictures they want, IMO.
