Ok, so I feel like I am just clueless when it comes to all of these photography packages. Do the packages include all of the editing and retouching? And when they give you discs, can you make all your own prints from those discs?
TIA!!

Re: Photography help!
It depends on the photographer...
I've talked to photographers who will only give you edited photos, and others who are willing to give you their raw work.
There are some photographers who will give you the rights to print their photos and others who will not.
Definitely talk to the vendors you are considering... These were two HUGE issues for FH and I, and we only got the information we needed from talking to vendors.

This exactly. I wanted all of the images with the rights to them on a disk with no watermarks. A lot of people do this now, but double check just in case.

If you go with Celestial Photography, Lou will work with you to make sure you get whatever you want and his package deals are unbelievable. I have absolutely loved working with him. Other photographs had a standard package and rate that didn't come with raw photos and they weren't willing to work with me at all.

Re: Photography help!
You have to go over everything with your photographer and ask. I am using Ken Hild. I have the right to everything, all will be edited and I will be given a hard copy of all proofs, and a hi and lo res disc of the proofs. (Hi for reprints, lo for facebook)

some give you a percentage (like i think duet gives you a minimum they will retouch) or a time line (8-10 hrs of retouching) you have to figure they wont give you complete crap- especially with their name attached! definitely ask! you need to find someone you trust and feel comfortable with!

Re: Photography help!
most of the ones i met with (lighthouse, north island, and benchwerk) will give you a disc with no watermarks and we have all rights...most places will give you on a disc as edited ..as it was explained to use raw footage files are huge ..so for example if your photographer takes 1000 pics you're going to need at least 750gb of storage for raw pics...

Re: Photography help!
My photographer, ADA Photography, said that he would give me a cd with rights to reprint all of the pictures taken that day. I think for every photographer the amount of retouching depends on how much you're paying. For someone like myself, that straight-up said I want the cheapest package you can give me and a CD with all the photos on it - I won't get a lot of editing done. But each photographer is different :)
