So I met with two photographers so far. Both were equally priced but, photographer A's package better suited my needs (I have divorced parents so need 3 of everything) and more pics per album, etc. Photographer, B's package did not include everything we needed, but did included giving us a high res disc with all the pics so that we can make up additionals as needed. The other, which package was better, did not. They will not release the high res dics, will only give low res which cannot be reproduced.
I'm curious as to how many of your photographers are giving you the high res disc? Photographer A says no good studio will and Photographer B says it is more common practice today.
Is this common practice today or are we getting a better deal by getting the high res disc? How many of you are getting the high res disc with your package. And which photographer are you using?

Re: Photography -- High Res Disc
All the photographers we went to offered the Res Disc... so it's odd NOT hearing that they will give you one. It's more common b/c you can either do everything yourself to make duplicates, OR, you can just bring it to Costco or something simular and have them do it. In my opinion it just works out better in the long run... JUST in case...

They are the ones that won't give the high res disc.

Re: Photography -- High Res Disc
IMO!! Photography A is just trying to make money off of you. Most photographers will give you a hi-res CD for you to make your own copies.

I have been to three photographrs as of tonight. One more tomorrow and 3 of the 4 will give the discs. GLENMAR will not, you have to wait 3 years.

Re: Photography -- High Res Disc
There are still some photographers that shoot on film! Getting a High Res Disc out of film takes some work. I'm sure they can send it somewhere to be done, but they probably don't want to bother with it.
If they are using digital photography, IMO its stupid for them to even charge for the disk, its just a mater of a few clicks.
They should charge for their work.

If you are using GlenMar, they will not give the disc for 3 years. They asked me what they could do so I would sign and I said give us the disc and they said absolutly not.

Re: Photography -- High Res Disc
They are an old school studio and they were willing to loose us because of the disc. You have to buy all your prints from them.

Re: Photography -- High Res Disc
Most of the studios we went to offered a high res disk except Patken who said they would give it to us after 6 months -1 year. I asked her why (I thought it was really weird) and she flat out told me (after I persisted) bc they wanted us to buy extra prints through them after the wedding. That REALLY rubbed me the wrong way and I left. We went with Golden Moments--they offer album packages (if you want them) AND a high res disk. They're fantastic all around...
