Re: Photography Info
definately medium format over 35mm... medium format is what most photographers use and is better when you want to make enlargements..
im not sure about digital.. sorry

I would have to say that digital is better- more flexible than film, and better for special effects, etc. I think the industry standard right now for professionals is 6 mega-pixels..

Re: Photography Info
Medium format allows for higher resolution of images, which means you can enlarge to poster size without losing detail. For digital, with a higher MP you can get more hi-res images. Hi-res images should be 300 dpi or larger. If you are looking for a photographer who does digital, chances are he is using a 6MP camera. Anything less is your basic everyday-use camera. He'll also have lots of memory cards so he can shoot as many as he wants.

oh yeah.. 1 difference i remember between film and digital when i was looking... with film you get physical proofs, with digital instead you get a cd with the pictures on it..
my photo teacher was actually talking about this today too... he was saying how now sports photographers just keep snapping pictures, and how its so much easier to just see the pictures right away, however regular film can do the same special effects that digital film does

Re: Photography Info
Our photographer is using digital and we are getting both picture proofs of all our pics as well as a cd. I don't know much about the difference between pics, but he does digital and we loved his work. I am also not too sure what the differences between the two are, although we were told that because it is digital he is using we will be getting more pics than we would have with film.

Re: Photography Info
with 35 mm, enlarging doesn't give you the detail that other formats such as digital can do. enlargements from 35 mm come out grainy.

Re: Photography Info
Okay, here's what I know about 35mm vs. Medium Format:
Medium Format captures more detail. A poster size enlargement is going to have more detail from this negative because it's bigger.
HOWEVER, 35mm *professional* film will give you very good enlargements up to 8 x 10, and decent 11 x 14. The advantage is that the photographer will be able to take pictures a little quicker, and a lot of photojournalists use it.
It's all about what you want the final end product to be. I know I wanted film over digital, and I wanted more spontaneous pics over more formal ones. We are not blowing up anything over 8 x 10, so we went with a photographer who uses 35mm.
