photography questions

I have some photography questions, and would love some feedback. Do you think two photographers are necessary, and if so do you think one should shoot in color and one in black and white. Or do you think one photographer is enough (who only shoots in color), but can make any picture black and white? Last question...how about one photographer who shoots with a digital camera and can make anything black and white? These are my issues, if I can decide on which route to go it will narrow down my three photographers to the one I will actually book. I hate this, I have been stuck on this decision since april!! I want to book someone already! Thanks ladies...

Re: photography questions

Depends on what you are looking for I guess, If you love those candid photojournalistic shots one photographer cant really be in two places at once. Like the shot of the grooms face while you are coming down the aisle, that cant really be caught by one photographer, so 2 is better in my humble opinion.

I hear that shooting in b&w film looks alot nicer than one changed from color.

Not sure about digital just make sure its someone who knows what they are doing, digital is farely new and I met with one photographer who obviosly still needed to perfect it, make sure you look at the photos they are talking about.

Re: photography questions

It all depends on your priorities.

I want lots of photos of EVERYTHING in color, black & white, using different lens etc.. photojournalistic and psudo photojournalist. I am extremely critical of how I look in photos so I knew I would need a ton to be happy. Having great photos are a top priority for me. So having 2 photographers was an obvious choice and I was willing to spend the money.

A photo shot in color and then converted into Black & White is not the same quality as a photo shot on B&W film. I care about these sorts of things so choosing a photographer who shoots using B&W film was an obvious choice and I was willing to spend the money.

Digital photography has not caught up to standard film in terms of quality. I plan on scanning a lot of my photos after the wedding so I can save the files but I wouldn't use this as my primary source.

Make your decisions on what is important to you.

Re: photography questions

If you want photojournalistic pictures, I would say you do need two photographers. If you are only concerned with a mix of black and white & color, I think you could get away with only one, especially considering how much more it costs for the second photographer. I must have met with like 15 photographers, and they all had different opinions on whether you could convert color to black and white without losing much quality, so if you are cost consious I don't think its a big deal. In the end, we decided we wanted photojournalistic pictures (we weren't so concerned with teh color issue), so we went with 2 photographers. Good luck

Re: photography questions

I think it depends on the individual, I am a major picture person and when I go on vaction and take dozens or rolls if not i am disappointed. So for me besides the fact that I love photojouralism, I also love it that with 2 photograhers you will get twice the pictures, to me the more the better.

good luck

One of my friends got digital and they came out great !!
