about how long should i ask my photographer to be with us? i'm shopping around and keep getting that questions, but don't really know the answer.
if my ceremony starts around 4 and my reception goes from 6:30-11:30 and i'd like someone to be at the house while we're getting ready, what time should they arrive and what time will they be leaving (i'm assuming they won't stay the whole time).
help please?
tia!

Re: photography times?
I'd say 10 hrs at a minimum. if you are having your ceremony at your RH, then you may be able to cut back on time, but I'd map out what the day will look like, from hair and make up appts, to limo pick up times, to the last dance. your hall should be able to help you too. We figured out our time line based off of our hall timing and worked our way back from the bouquet and garter toss.

Re: photography times?
many of the photographers i've met with have specified hours in the package--anywhere from 6-12 hours.

Re: photography times?
my ceremony is at 2pm so i am thinking 12:30-1pm to have them arrive. and we are asking them to be there until the end of the reception at midnight.
i'd say 1-1.5 hours before your ceremony

Re: photography times?
I chose my photographer last weekend! I went to 3 different places and each asked me when the ceremony started ( 3pm ) and gave me their opinion on a start time. Most said about 12:30 -1pm to spend about 1-1.5 hrs taking pics before we leave for the church. I just assumed they would stay until the end of the night (which is about 11pm for us). 10hrs is about the average from what I hear.

Re: photography times?
Our photographer said 10 hours, but then said he would come about 1.5 hours prior to ceremony and stay until the end no matter what

Re: photography times?
My ceremony starts at 5:30. We are taking pictures before ceremony. Photog is coming to my house at 1pm to take pictures of me getting ready, then I think FH will come around 2:30-3, we'll take pictures, then head over to RH for ceremony at around 4:30.

Re: photography times?
READ THE CONTRACT! I am talking again from my own personal experience. Don't agree to a very specific time period. Always get more than you need-try to get it for the day but no less than 9-10 hours. Don't use PhotoVideo Network. After we signed the contract, they wrote on the contract-6 hours of service. The contract had other bs like $100 per 1/2 hour o/t per video and photo-adding thousands to the cost of the package. Don't pay and they will leave in the middle. Obviously they are a scam and we ate the deposit and had to find someone else. Live and learn. Please don't make the same mistake we made. That is why I keep repeating it. It was a costly, dumb mistake we made. Have them mark NO CHARGE for OVERTIME! Don't accept less!!!
