Photography Timing Questions

I'm trying to figure out how many hours I will need the photographer(s) for on my wedding day. FH and I are getting ready separately and would like some pics taken with our parents and respective bridal parties before the church.

The ceremony starts at 4:30 and the reception is from 7-midnight.

Will I need 10 hours of coverage? How much time do we need for the 'getting ready' shots beforehand?

we didnt go by hours, he was just mine from 7:30am until the end of the reception- at 6:30, so i would say 11 hours u would need i guess.

Our ceremony was at 2:30, reception started at 7:00. Photographer stayed until 11:30 (reception ended at midnight), and arrived at noon.

Oh I see... Many work on sort of an all-day type of deal.

Some of the web sites I looked at had packages based on hours, so I was getting confused!
