I am just overwhelmed and don't know where to start looking for a photographer. My sister got married in July and I liked her photographer but want to look around a bit to get the best deal. I am hoping to be able to get 2 photographers and have someone taking video too.I also want to make sure they have a good reputation. Any suggestions for reasonably priced studios?

I feel like out of everything that needs to be planned this is the one area that you can make a HUGE mistake by booking with the wrong place. I'm scared :( lol

Re: Photography Where to Begin?!?
I feel the exact same way!! I'm so overwhelmed and aggravated with photography that I want to just skip it for now. There are sooo many to choose from and everyone wants the best photos. Good luck on your search and you will get a lot of good references from here.

Not sure where you live but Glenmar in Roslyn does a great job. They also do video check them out, but be careful when you google there is a Glenmar in NJ too make sure you look at the one located in Roslyn.
Dont get overwhelmed deep breathes!

Re: Photography Where to Begin?!?
This is what I did...
I looked at photos on The Brides' Review. I took note of the photogs who took the photos I liked. Turns out, most often, it was Thomas Paul, so I made an appointment with him, and we wound up booking.
Photography is so personal, so you just need to look at photos and see who you like.
Also on my list with Thomas PAul was
Duet Patken Twelfth Night Lovemore Jadore Love Blue Daisy Photography by Gio Willy Wong Amanda Picone
Seriously, just take some time and look at photos and see what draws you in. All these photogs have various packages at various price points. Good luck.

Re: Photography Where to Begin?!?
Its important to figure out what type of pictures you look.. Do you like plain or edgy or artsy? Many photographers have a different style of photography so you have to find who works best with what you are looking for..
I booked Patken.. They are everything I was looking for and more...
Theres a lot of awesome photographers out there!
Good Luck!

10er Crashing.
Photography and Video were really important to us. We started by just looking at people's wedding photos and deciding what style of photography we liked. A good price means nothing if the pictures and editing aren't what you want.
We ended up going with BE Creative Photography for our photo and Orange FIlms for our video. We did a lot of research and these two really were exactly what we were looking for.

i booked with giovanni photographic artist.... i had 3 seperate recommendations for him and SO glad i chose him....
what also helped me was going to bridal shows, this way you can talk to a bunch of diff photographers in one place and see there work ask questions etc

this is great advice. i would definitely take some time to look through the reviews and jot down anyone whose pics appeal to you...then i would do a search in reviews to see more pics from that photographer (and read their reviews)...and THEN go to their website and look through their portfolio.

We met with Duet, Thomas Paul, and 12th Night. All do great work, but ultimately we felt we got the most bang for our buck with TP! Tom is great!
