Photos of the Heart

My original photography plan fell through, so now I'm looking for someone new. I have some other possible prospects from a friend as well, which I should know about at the end of this week.

Has anyone booked with Photos of the Heart or maybe just met with them or know someone who booked them?

I spoke with both Debbie and Ives on the phone and they seem like a sweet couple and their prices are very reasonable. (I just don't have the money to do a full day of photography, which is perfectly okay with me.)

They have very good reviews on LIW, but I like hearing from any other brides on here.

Well, I called them yesterday to book a meeting.... and they booked my date on Tuesday. I had spoken to them Monday.

I did schedule to meet with one of their associate photographers on Friday. He is giving me the same rate and he sounds like he has the same philosophy, which is good.

I haven't been able to find anyone else with their rate, which is why I am sticking with them.

They're actually a house vendor at my venue. I was going to meet with them but fell in love with capture the moment and her prices were very reasonable. Also check out Artistic Images in Bohemia (another house vendor), his prices are competitive as well! I'm not sure what style you're looking for - he seemed to be more traditional.

I'm looking for more of an hourly rate and not so much in packages. I plan to make my own album one day and because I just don't have the money. And because I know how to use InDesign, Photoshop etc.

To be honest, I am looking for some nice photos. I do like a mix of both traditional and photo journalistic, but I am not picky as long as it captures the day beautifully. I see that Capture the Moment is booked for 2015, but I might look into Artistic Images.

Both of my sisters used Photos of the Heart for their weddings last year. I will say, we are all kind of type-A, fast moving, you gotta keep up with me type people and Ives (their main photographer) is kind of the opposite! I don't mean to imply he doesn't care about his photos, he def does! But he is slow moving. He was slow the day of (not late or unprofessional, just a bit frustrating at times) and then even with their albums through him they both found his process very frustrating and found multiple errors in books and issues with thank you cards - he fixed them all eventually but I think they overall found him to be frustrating. I think they love their pics, but it was a headache to get there lol I wouldn't say don't use them! I wouldn't want to bash them when they were very professional always, I just did not take a liking to them based on their experiences. Photos are pretty though!

Thank you for that! Thankfully, I just want photos. I plain to make my own album one day. And do my own thank you cards.

I am meeting with someone else in the company, since Ives and Debbie are booked for my day. The guys name is Jim Kennedy and he works for multiple photography companies on Long Island. We'll see how it goes tonight when I meet with him.
